I haven't been able to find frozen sour cherries in Atlanta.

Any suggestions?

What did your Mom always have on hand, that you NEVER do?

green ketchup (they had it like 10 years ago I think)
Miracle Whip
tapioca pudding
garlic salt

Food that makes you particularly sad?

Haha, sadly I can relate to these.

I think the biggest sad places to me are Golden Corral and Subway. Totally lacking flavor.

Any meat that comes to the table with its head still attached...

Things I ate/drank in college that I will never eat again

My list is super short!

whiskey
cheap wine
shots of liquor

I never ate Ramen in college, but now I get a few occasionally. I had a roommate that made the rice that came in the paper bags and I would never buy those even though I didn't eat them. They smelled horrible!

Treats for troops in Afghanistan

The chapstick thing is interesting. My soldier mentioned it getting cold (he's in Iraq).. don't know if it is freezing there yet.

Treats for troops in Afghanistan

Package I'm sending tomorrow is: beef jerky, Pringle packs, lifesavers, brownies, Pez, chewing gum, candy, and sunflower seeds. My last package included crackers, body wash, moist toilette's, Halloween candy, etc.

You could also send instant oatmeal, popcorn, summer sausage, drink mixes (like Crystal Lite, lemonade, etc.), individual snacks (like the 100 calorie kind), individual cereal, peanut butter, Easy Mac.. there are lots of lists :)

Best Homemade Food Gift

I am giving my friends and family apple pie filling (I canned it about a month ago), "Moon Dust" from the Flying Biscuit cookbook (spice), and hot chocolate on a stick (have yet to make this one)!

Treats for troops in Afghanistan

Unless the soldiers know you they aren't supposed to eat the treats you send them.

I have a soldier penpal and I send him packaged cookies that are less likely to melt!

Atlanta Thanksgiving Fiasco at Ray's on the River

It looked SLAMMED when I drove by Thursday afternoon. I would be upset - especially with a reservation made.

Your Dog Eats Better on Thanksgiving than You

My dog very well as all my family dropped him a few snacks periodically throughout the day.. and he never left his momma's side!

Eatzi's is open... I realized this is 2 years later, but they have a location on Ponce.

Perimeter Area

http://www.wildfirerestaurant.com/ Wildfire is a personal favorite of mine. The salads, sides, and steaks are great! And you can walk to it from your hotel!

Savannah: Nov 26-30

Specifics? 1: don't knowWhere I think you should go: Zunzi's - http://www.zunzis.com/
Zunzi's is run by a South African couple in a walk-up counter. There used to be tables outside or you can eat in one of the squares (a matter of just a few feet away). I've never heard anyone not like this place. They're only really open for lunch.

If your style of dining is like Elizabeth on 37th you might not enjoy my recommendations.

Mrs. Wilke's is a good bet for southern cooking as is the trendy Lady and Sons. I recommend Uncle Bubba's out towards the island instead though.

Places like "The Shrimp Factory" isn't a good place for your travel companion. River street is really the place where all the seafood places are.

Moon River is a good place to stop for an afternoon beer. Or The Grypon Tea Room for afternoon tea (usually overrun with old ladies and college students). Or if coffee is your thing try The Gallery Espresso or The Sentient Bean.

Il Pasticcio is a popular place for tourists and locals.
