While in Charleston, SC where do you recommend

Lots of great places mentioned. I second McCrady's (our favorite), Hominy Grill, Slightly North of Broad. I think Cru Cafe for lunch-make sure somebody orders a side of their decadent mac and cheese. Some of the best waiters in Chucktown are employed there. Also you should try Lucca-fabulous northern Italian north of the college that is a great secret. While out at the Sanctuary, right up at the village with the fancy pig grocery store is Hege's--fabulous brasserie. Rosebank and the Fat Hen are good too.

While in Charleston, SC where do you recommend

We did brunch at Husk last month. I don't think it comes close to McCrady's. But we did have terrible service. But the space is stunning.

Sean Brock's New Restaurant Husk In Charleston, SC.............

While it's a great space, I don't think it touches McCrady's. We went for Sunday brunch and the service was horrible. Food was good, but not McCrady's-like.

Greenville, SC for 4 nights

Pita House. Barley's for the best beer list in Greenville and also awesome pizza. For sushi, I would recommend either Tsunami or Purple (West End). While my family loves Tacosushi, I don't think their sushi is all that good. Deveraux's is wonderful, and I usually send people to Soby's for upscale southern treats. Great space and good service too. Weird mhawkins about Ric Erwin's - i think it's one of the most consistent good dines in town. I don't ever make it to dessert but i think they have the best beef in town. And I love High Cotton-a Charleston restaurant that does a good job with southern sustainable and they make a mean martini; they do a great brunch. The Bohemian is a neat little place. For Thai, I would send you to the east side to Bangkok, well worth the drive (on Pelham Rd)--hands down the best Thai in Greenville. Henry's is the BBQ destination. I personally think you could probably skip Brick Street unless you go for dessert-they do this fabulously. And Tommy's Ham House is a great experience! And if you're up for music, go to Smileys for some great fun.

Foodie Family staying in DuPont Circle...need fave spots!

My husband, and 2 kids (14 and 11 who LOVE to eat!) are coming to DC in early March to be tourists but would love to have great spots to eat at...please help!! We love ethnic, burgers, anything and everything. thanks...

staying in pine island.....need recommendations!

I'm taking my dad and son fishing in a couple of weeks and we're staying at the Tarpon Lodge by the marina. (All three of us are great foodies and we want to eat well!!) I can't figure whether their restaurant is good or not....and where else should we hit? Is the restaurant out at Cabbage Key good or a big tourist trap? Thanks!!

New Yorker in Greenville, SC uncovering hidden gems - Cafe Paulista Grille and Saigon Fast Food

Yeah, I'd have to second suse...Monterrey is the mexican joint where I take my kids..nothing but fast food mexican. Try Anita's in Simpsonville on Main St--pretty authentic run by Mexican wonderful wife and funny husband who's American and their grown sons. They have good weekday lunch specials..no tex mex.
Also Sabroso (one on Woodruff and one of Haywood) - owner is Mexican American who went to Wade Hampton High - best tamales around.
And what civic center and where is Cedar Lane Rd?? We've been here almost 3 years and I haven't heard of that place--need to put it on the list.
And have you been to Barley's downtown next to Wild Wing? It's the best pizza in town with the best beer list in town...hands down.

need some good foodie places in downtown tampa

headed to tampa the last week of feb with both my very lively 80 year-old parents and 2 kids--we're all foodies!! would love some recs for both lunches and dinners, downtown (we're staying at the Hyatt Regency) and Ybor City. thanks!!!

need some favorites for nantucket

I'm back and here's what I found:
Sorry I wasted a meal at the Brotherhood-thought it was overpriced and blah.
American Seasons-good, great wait staff and food was pretty good.
Pearl-Good but not good enough for what they charge. Great atmosphere though.
Quinquieg's (probably have the spelling wrong) - by far the best meal we ate and the cheapest too!
I loved the sandwiches at Provisions. And the night I left my friends ordered out from Sayle's--wish I'd spent that nite instead of the one I wasted at Brotherhood!!

Kiawah Island

Don't miss the Rosebank Cafe at the Marina (between Kiawah & Seabrook) -- they have fabulous food and freshly prepared...I usually eat there at least twice in a week. I drag anybody and everybody I'm with!

any good restaurants in the new bern, nc area?

thanks a bunch!! have eaten at one of those seafood restaurants (the one with the rooftop) -- wasn't too bad -- but will definitely look into the others you've shown me...

any good restaurants in the new bern, nc area?

We'll be taking someone to camp east of new bern next month and having never stayed in the area, was wondering where we might get some decent food before dropping him off...thanks. we usually stop in kingston for awesome bbq from king's but are planning on staying overnite in new bern this time. thanks.

Anyone know where to find Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers in Charleston?

Reid's used to have them (@ 7th Street Station)

Prefer SNOB or High Cotton in Charleston?

Whenever anyone asks where to eat in Charleston, I send them to SNOB. It's ALWAYS a fabulous treat. However, as the others have said, High Cotton may be a bit fancier, but know that both are owned by the same owner/restaurant group, so you'll get similar food at both.

need some favorites for nantucket

Ok, I'll be going in early August with my friends who are far wealthier than I. That said, can you give me some absolute must eateries that won't make me have to work cleaning dishes afterwards...perhaps that's an oxymoron in nantucket...thanks!

anything new and must do on sullivans?!

Coming down to Charleston (staying at IOP) to watch tennis next week and wanted to know if there's anything new and must go to out at Sullivans/IOP/Mt Pleasant...have reservations at Red Drum for Saturday....will probably hit Poe's...anything I'm missing??

Best in Chapel Hill/Carrboro/Durham

Whenever I visit my sister-in-law in Chapel Hill, my kids make her take us to Carrburito's!! Awesome for just about anybody!!

Diner or Dive within 1 hour of Charlotte, NC

Nothing else even comes close....The Penguin....be sure to try their fried pickles and/or sweet potato fries. They have the best pimento cheese burger you'll ever find!

Folly Beach update anyone?

suse-where's the daily dose exactly and what kind of food-must be a new place?? we're actually going to stay a bit inland at a cousin's house on james island up by the mustard seed--any other great places you found??

Any opinions on Ciro's??

Ok, since this is a fairly opionated group, let me hear what you think of Ciro's??

Solero Mediteranean in Charlotte, NC

thanks .. yes the one in the big old house or the old bayou kitchen across the street? both have been a couple of different things in the past couple of years..

Folly Beach update anyone?

thanks..will do. yes the anchor line would be that place i was thinking about. i can't say i'm too surprised of its demise!!! any new places open??

Where to go on Labor Day for brunch or lunch??

Is everything going to be open on Labor Day like any other Monday?? It'll be my last meal before heading out of the city....

How do you Fage?

yeahhhh...i have to second sukisooo. Honey and I also love fresh mango in mine, in which case i do stir. ooops

Folly Beach update anyone?

SO glad that Bowens is reopened...was afraid it wouldn't be by the time we got down there later this month. Taco Boy is fun if you're not looking for the finest in food (the margaritas are good!) And there's one more fish place -can't think of the name-it's right on Folly Island Rd on a creek-total dive but decent food and my kids love to go there because they always seem to see a shark in the creek while we're eating!

Unknown BBQ Joints

Bulloch's is tried and true but on your next outing, go a little further and hit King's in Kinston for a real treat!!

Solero Mediteranean in Charlotte, NC

We just left Charlotte after 13 years so was bummed to hear about this restaurant. Where is it??

Chapel Hill...where should I have eaten?

Far and away, Crooks Corner!! Maybe not the same place as back when Bill Neal had it, but still unique with good eats and bevs!!
