Brandy-Apple Punch

Yum. This is delicious. The base alone could make a delicious punch by adding something sparkling. I think I would add more water and less apple juice and use Sparkling Cider. .. If I wanted a family-friendly version. As it is, I don't today, so I'm enjoying it with the Brandy. I first made a single batch and after tasting the base, immediately made a double batch. I could tell it would go quickly with our friends. My husband says it falls in the "dangerous" drink category: delicious with "hidden" alcohol. I may try adding sparkling wine to make it a little more "punchy."

Main Line Wine

This punch is fabulous. Our liquor store only carried green chartreuse and regular bitters. It turned out splendid. It was very sweet at first, so I simply added more ice to my glass and vowed to drink slower. I wonder how it would taste with some carbonated water added?

RoadTrip: Tac to Sac 'n' back

Here is my challenge: a dash down to Sacramento from Tacoma for Christmas, leaving the afternoon of Dec 23rd. In the vehicle: husband, 2 1/2 year old and a Chinese student.

We'd like to arrive in Sacramento sometime on the 24th, and avoid Passes at night (Snow chains at night.. ewww).
The way back is much more relaxed, as in, we can take 4-5 days if we want.
Stops I know I want to make: Rice Hill (Icecream), Ashland (Ice Skating?), Rogue River Cremery (Medford).
They are all clustered in one little swath of I-5 though. I have another 500 or so miles to break up! I'd like to stop every 2-3 hours.

Anyone know the name of that diner in the mountains with the "funny" bathroom and a tractor out front?

Yes, I'm going for quirky, fun, informative, adventure... and of course: good food (that is child-friendly and not so expensive that I will wish I flew). Please advise!

Thank you!
