Restaurants in St. Pete

Gulfport is the place to go: Peg's Cantina, locally and seasonal TexMex, Pia's Trattoria, best italian with great seafood specials and reasonable prices, and new Tangelos Island Flavors.... can't get any better!

Roman Gardens St. Petersburg Downtown, anyone?

Thank you! I'm told they are closing and move to Gulfport.

Roman Gardens St. Petersburg Downtown, anyone?

My Mil wants to take us to Roman Gardens on Central Downtown St. Pete. Since her taste buds are somehow converted I'd like to read your opinions on that restaurant:-). Thanks!

is there german food in florida???

Last night I had a real authentic german dinner at the new "Schnitzel Factory" in Ocala. It was delicious, the chef's/owners real germans definitely know about german "Kueche". The place was welcoming, the servers friendly, the food absolutely mouthwatering. you can find Ray and his wife Susanne at 1053 N.E. 14th Street Plaza in Ocala, where Eddie’s Place used to be. They just opened a week ago, I think, and are already packed (mostly with germans, LOL). A Fun place to be!

Fathers Day Brunch/Clearwater Beach area

For really good breakfast I would drive to Gulfport, The Waterwitch, nice location with waterview, traditional, international and 100% organic.

What are your personal faves in the Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater area?

Frog Pond - breakfast on st. pete beach but not on the water
Brown Dog Cafe - St. Petersburg
The Pearl - an all time classic in Treasure Island
Water Witch - Gulfport, breakfast, lunch or dinner with water view, fresh market eatery, delicous and brand new. The best crab cakes and rib eye I ever had in my life. they are big in sea food. Breakfast is mouthwatering and "different" in a good way.
Pia's Trattoria - Gulfport, the best italian I know because the food and ambiance are just perfect.
Mrs. Green's Bakery - St. Petersburg, I love it.

Where do the locals eat in the St. Pete area?

I love Chattaway, nice ambiance and good food. Try Pia's Trattoria (Pasta, Panini, Fish etc.) and Backfin Blue Cafe (famous crab cakes ) in Gulfport, Beach Blvd, outside seating, reasonable prices, great food. And also Ted peters for smoked fish... getting hungry...:-))

THE BEST PIZZA in TAMPA BAY???

I love love love Peg's Pizza. They are opening a new location in about 2 weeks in Gulfport, Beach Blvd., next to Pia's.

Five questions about food in St. Pete's - bakery, barbecue, soul food, sushi & espresso

1. Where can I buy good bread? (Bagels, baguette, croissant, rye, it's all good....)
Definitely Mazzaro's and Casa Pane on St. Pete Beach

2. I've read about lots of good places in Clearwater etc., but is there any good barbecue in St. Pete's itself?
dunno....:-( haven't found one yet

3. Any soul/southern food recs in St. Pete's, and does anyone have an opinion about Shirley's, Soul Food Fantasy or Dirty South?
Shirley's is good..

4. Best sushi and/or ceviche?
Ceviche at Ceviche downtown St. Pete

5. Any good espresso within 20 blocks of Central & 34th? What about really good takeout - especially Cuban, Middle Eastern, sushi, or panini?
Espresso at Mazzaro's and Pia's in Gulfport (segafredo). They also have excellent paninis and simple but delicous italian food.

German Restaurant St-Pete-area?!

Well, I used to live in germany for quite some time and the bavarian house on the beach has nothing at all to do with german food. It was just horrible. Yes, the lady of the house is very nice and friendly, but the owner and chef is simply a grumphead and can't cook. He didn''t even reply to a hello...

German Restaurant St-Pete-area?!

I´m trying to find a nice german restaurant in the stpete area... any suggestions... please? I´ve tried the bavarian house stpete beach and was very disappointed. the food was so so and the restaurant is plain ugly.

La Fogata in Gulfport?

We´ve been at La Fogata only once and I did like it. It will not become my favorite but it was fancy and totally different from the usual Gulfport eateries. My all time fav risto is Pia´s, and let´s be fair... the (from italy importet!) water is just $1 and the food is not only good and simple. Their daily specials are just mouthwatering and excellent prepared. They use the real stuff.... And.... I can take my kids too.. LOL, because the prices are fair. It´s real italian food and the ambiance is definitely romantic at nights.
I also miss Cool Beanz :-(
