ISO Vietnamese restaurant in Rockville/Bethesda/Gaithersburg
This isn't Rockville/Bethesda/Gaithersburg.... but, try MiCaLay in Wheaton. It's behind the HungPhat market in the old Nava Thai place. It's excellent. They have the best noodle soups and a variety of other yummy dishes.

Island Hut in Wheaton
I chatted with the owner a few weeks ago as we were coming out of New Kam Fong... yes, Jamaican.
There was an article on it last week in the Gazette: http://gazette.net/stories/05112011/burtnew194238_32543.php

Where can I buy cacao nibs in Montgomery County?
Just saw some last weekend at SiTea in Takoma Park. I'm not sure how the price compares, but they sell by weight.
You could also try MOM's organic market in Rockville.
Buying rolled wheat flakes or red wheat berries in Rockville area?
Not sure about the wheat flakes... but, I've definitely bought the hard red wheat berries at MOM's in the past. They have a great selection of bulk grains.
Nice & fun lunch spot near Farragut West
Don't go to Cafe Asia... the food sucks.

Farragut North Veggie Burrito Truck
He was there on Wednesday - my coworkers sat and ate their yummy looking burritos during our staff meeting.
Moving from NYC to Silver Spring
Someone mentioned Mi Cay La in Wheaton - for "shopping" stop into the Hung Phat market that's attached. It's a Thai market that's just crammed with all sorts of goodies. My favorite is their fresh rice noodles (I've made drunken noodles at home that are just as good, if not better, than some of the restaurants around here...) My other favorite "ethnic" market in the area is Patel Bros in Adelphi... I like to get a samosa from behind the counter on the way out for $.99. :)
Also, don't limit yourself to El Pollo Rico for Wheaton Peruvian Chicken. I prefer Super Pio Pio (I think that's the name) in the strip on Elkin. They also sell fried yucca, but it's not the best fried yucca I've ever had... sometimes a little dry, with some stringy parts.
I love the imperial rolls at Saigonese. They also have pho and other vietnamese dishes. They do a big takeout business.
My parents love to go to Royal Mile Pub when they come into town. They get busy on the weekends - they usually have some low key live irish/scottish-type music.
Try Black Market Bistro in Kensington. It's super cute and charming, nestled in a Victorian Garrett Park neighborhood... and a nice place to go for brunch.
Someone mentioned Ray's the Classics. Try their bar special... it's a phenomenal deal for around $25/pp.
Ditto on the recs for Ruan Thai, Moby Dick Seafood, New Kam Fong, Ghar-e-Kebab, and Hollywood East. Of these, Moby Dick and New Kam Fong our probably our two favorite "go to" restaurants... mostly because we just love the owners of both places. They're so friendly... if you go there once or twice, they remember you and will treat you well!

Good Delivery Pizza in Silver Spring/Wheaton
Try Kensington Pizza and Kebob. It's pretty good! And, they also deliver Persian food (although, I like their pizza better than the other food...)
Cocktails in DC!
There are some good drinks at Proof in Chinatown.
Not DC proper... but, In old town, there's the place above Eammon's called PX.
New Kam Fong, University & Elkins in Wheaton
We went to New Kam Fong for the first time a few weeks ago... and, have already been back 3 times. We've tried the ginger scallion lobsters, shrimp wonton soup, steamed pork buns, fried good dale, kung pao chicken, pan fried dumplings, and spring rolls.
The only dish that was just "meh" was the kung pao chicken. I don't even know if kung pao is considered "real" chinese food.
The lobster was really good. A little oily, but, delicious.
The buns, spring rolls, and dumplings were all really fresh.
And, the shrimp wantons were awesome. I got them in soup - added fresh chilis to the broth... yum. :)
I had never tried fried good dale before... it had the same flavor as singapore rice noodles, but, with wide soft noodles, rather than the skinny rice noodles. There was so much that my husband and I were able to split it - and STILL have leftovers!
The owners are super friendly, and willing to make good suggestions. Next time we go, we'll try either the sizzling lamb, the chow fun, or one of the casserole pots.
All 4 times we've visited, the place has been full of Chinese people - and, the food coming out to their tables looks amazing.
Best part? It's cheap. The other day, we ate dinner (totally stuffed, with leftovers) for around $20 - and that even included the tip, and a steamed pork bun for the baby!
HELP!?! New to Silver Spring/Aspen Hill/Rockville/Wheaton with nothing to eat!
I love the pizza at the Stained Glass Pub.
I was skeptical - the place is definitely divey... but, IMO, the pizza is soooo good! It's a thin crust... but, almost pie-crust-like... hard to explain.
It's 1/2 off on Monday's and Tuesdays - you should give it a try.
Cheap eats near Union Station, National Mall, National Zoo and White House Area
By the White House: Teaism, Breadline, G Street food, Met Cafe... they'd all be around $10/pp for lunch. They're also opening some sort of Indian cafe on Pennsylvania? But, I don't know when.
If you want to walk about 1/2 mile north of the White House, there are lots of options near Dupont Circle.
DC/MD French fries?
The fries at G Street food are really good... similar to Breadline, but, better.
