Latest Puebla and Cuernavaca recs?
My absolute favorite restaurant in Mexico is in Puebla- 'Meson Sacristia de la Compania'. It's actually a really original boutique hotel, but their restaurant is also well-known. The decor of the place is very unique and colorful, and they serve wonderful traditional dishes. All the decorations and antique furtniture in the hotel (in the rooms and in the restaurant part) is for sale, which also makes it very interesting. It's very central as well, very near the zocalo.
Affordable, local food in Venice?
This has all been useful information! I am in the process of planning a trip to Venice myself, with some friends. We are also on quite a budget so we have to watch where we eat as well. Actually we are considering renting a little apartment, and that way we would be able to cook. We've found sites like http://veniceapartments.org/ where you can find some pretty cheap deals, or http://www.casamundo.co.uk/italy/veneto/venice.htm . How easy and cheap would it be to shop at local markets and cook on our own? Does it even make sense to do this? I've heard that the Rialto fish market is worth visiting, but we also like to eat very fresh (and mostly vegetarian!). I also read some more about the markets on http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Italy/Veneto/Venice-140867/Things_To_Do-Venice-Markets-BR-1.html
Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated!
Eating vegetarian in Africa
I am not so familiar with travelling in Africa, but I was wondering how easy it is there to find vegetarian food/restaurants? I don't eat any kind of meat, so I'm thinking it would be very difficult to travel there, as I imagine they eat lots of meat. I'm thinking of South Africa in particular, since for a while now I've wanted to go there.
To Eat or Not To Eat. That is the question . . about cheese rind.
I don't see a problem with eating the rind... I think it does depend on the type of cheese though, as someone already mentioned. I also think that it takes better if the cheese and the cheese rind are in a dish where it is burt
Breakfast in Mexico City
I have not been to Cafe Tacuba for breakfast, but I have been there for other meals and I think it is a lovely restaurant. The food is great and so is the ambiance, I find it a very original restaurant
