Where's the best gourmet mac and cheese found in the northwest side of Chicago or northern burbs?
Appetizer shops
Where can I purchase appetizers for a party that are reasonably priced & tasty? I can cover a lot of ground - the location can be anywhere from NW Chgo to Deerfield. I've purchase all that Trader Joe's has to offer but would like to try something different. I've heard of Unforgettable Edibles or Foodstuffs but have not tried either. Any suggestions?

Shish Kabob places
Thanks to everyone. I have been to Pita Inn and while it is good, it is not comparable to Mr. D's. Mr. D's is not a Mediterranean style place - it is just a sandwich shop and a small one at that. It has a very limited menu consisting of a few sandwiches: steak, Italian beef, burgers, hot dogs & their superstar, the shish kabob. The meat is marinaded then char grilled on a skewer with onions & served on a french roll with tomatoes & a lemon to squeeze over the sandwich. If you've never had it, I highy recommend it. Haven't seen this type of sandwich anywhere else & it's unfortunate their business hours do not cooincide with my schedule. :(

Shish Kabob places
Because I cover a lot of ground on my daily drive home, I wouldn't mind finding a place anywhere in between the northern burbs down to & including the NW side. I usually drive home down Waukegan Ave all the way to Milwaukee Ave. but can also take the Edens into the city, as well as the tri-state, so I am open to travelling just about anywhere in between if it's worth trying.

Had a Mr. D's (located on Diversey Ave.) Shish Kabob sandwich this weekend & it was fantastic! Being that Mr. D's closes at 6pm Mon.-Fri., & I work in Lake County, it is unlikely that I can get that delicious Shish Kabob sandwich anytime during the week. Does anyone know of a place that serves char grilled Shish Kabob that is comparable anywhere in the near northern burbs down to where I live, the northwest side of Chgo.?

Giannotti's Italian Steak House
Does anyone have any info on this restaurant? It has been closed for a very long time for remodeling but I am starting to wonder if it will ever reopen. Just seems like way too long for remodeling & from the outside, there does not appear to be any progress made.
