Restaurants Near Toronto Centre for the Arts
I am taking my wife to see Jersey Boys for our 40th anniversary and was wondering if anyone can help me choose a memorable restaurant near the Toronto Centre for the Arts (5040 Yonge in North York).
We enjoy Asian, Italian, and like really well-cooked, interesting food, rather than over-priced and stuffy places where patrons pay for the decor and not the quality of the food.
Thanks!
TNT Prepared Foods
I agree. T+T has a great selection of Asian groceries but their take out food is rather bland and tastes like it has been sitting in a steaming tray for hours. Most of the time not even as good as typical buffet fare. It is-however- very cheap and can tide you over in a pinch when you need some chow fast.
Best Babka?
I am new to Toronto (Thornhill, actually) and love cinnamon , walnut, or chocolate babka or yeast-type dough crescents pastry.
I Ilved in Montreal many years ago and Cheskies on Bernard had great babkas. There was also a tiny shop on Cote st. Luc Road near Earnscliffe where the owner baked a fabulous babka; sadly, the owner died and that was the end of it.
We lived in Ottawa until recently where there was no babka available worth eating, only horrible greasy ersatz babka made by Wawel Bakery in Montreal.
Thanks for your suggestions!
