Best Italian in or near Fort Lee? Ideas? |
|
|
We ate at Acapello last night. Above average Italian, I had a monkfish francaise special. While I enjoyed it and it was a copius portion, I was a little shocked to find out it cost $32.95. It was a special and in a what the heck moment, I didn;t ask the price. My wife had a seafood on pasta dish that was fresh and good--calamari, clams and shrimp over capellini. Salads were large, fresh and refreshing, dessert was a homemade apple galette with ice cream. Service was exceptionally good. Our waiter was wowed by our wine and we left him the remainder for science! |

What's hot for Portuguese food in the Newark Ironbound? We tried Casa Vasca. I had grouper with shrimp and clams, my wife had chicken with spinach sauce. Food was very good and very fairly priced. The sangria was good and the atmosphere was quiet, neighborhood-y and tranquil. Service was great and there were some Devils fans among the staff who spotted our regalia. Thanks for the suggestion, we would return, as well as try the other suggestions! |

Where is Caffe India? Washington Street in Morristown? |

What's hot for Portuguese food in the Newark Ironbound? Will definitely try Portugal Express another night, but will stay in the Newark neighborhood on Sunday after Devils. Leaning Casa Vasca (not Portuguese, I know), will report back on where we go. |

What's hot for Portuguese food in the Newark Ironbound? I will note those restaurants for future reference, but I am hopeful someone can assist me for Newark, since that is where I will be at 8pm Sunday. |

What's hot for Portuguese food in the Newark Ironbound? We enjoy Seabra's Marisquera, but have been there several times in a row. We would like someplace that is a manageable size and with authentic food. Not an institutional nut house. And we don't need a week's worth of paella. Thanks, it is for SUnday 2/24 after the Devils' game. |

Tsuru in Basking Ridge! It is in a mall. I eat sushi once a week and this is among the best I've had in NJ. Their other food (apps, a soba shrimp dish) was very good, too! |

For Northerners, Goffle Farm on Goffle Rd. in Hawthorne/Ridgewood has good farm fresh chickens! |

Peacock Inn in Princeton. |

Custom iced cake for Super Bowl Party in west Essex County? Thanks , Curlz! With their proximity to the Meadowlands, they will be familiar with Giants' logos. I will see if I can pull it off! |

Custom iced cake for Super Bowl Party in west Essex County? We are hosting a Super Bowl party for many slightly disappointed fans of the NY GIants. I would like to get a sheet cake with Giants' logos on it . Does anyone know a bakery in my area that can pull this off? |

Mod Mio on Bergen Blvd in Ridgefield is very good . Been there many times. A winner for food and service! |

Fricasseè French Bistro, Montclair Yay, thanks for the update. I will say we went to La Reve in Bloomfield for my steak frites fix and we found it to be quite enjoyable. They comped us an experimental quinoa side dish and a creme caramel dessert. We definitely got the VIP treatment and will return to La Reve. But I am happy to hear that Epernay will become reincarnated. The recession has wiped out many of our favorites. Thanks for the news flash! |

French brasseries in northern NJ We are going to try Mes Reves and report back. We've tried the departed Resto and Rob's Bistro multiple times. I would say they are good, not great. Bistro Citron in Roslyn , Long Island is good. We met our LI relatives there last year. I am sure NYC is loaded with these places. |

I agree! |

French brasseries in northern NJ I think that what I am looking for is a bistro, not a brasserie. |

French brasseries in northern NJ Bingo! Not many of them in NJ. Been to a nice one in Roslyn, NY, name escapes me now. |

French brasseries in northern NJ Epernay in Montclair recently closed. Cafe Monet in Millburn is OK. Any other places? |
|
|
NYE recommendations in New Jersey I believe Epernay in Montclair is now out of business. I had a hankering for steak frites on Saturday and my wife delivered the bad news, |

Cannot argue with coldbeer on Ebbitt Room. Washington Inn and Peter Shields Inn are also good. Not sure how Cape May fared in the hurricane. Don't know who is open. |

Essex Green (W. Orange) Throwback Wouldn't it be great if they could reconstruct the Essex Green Mall as if it was as an amusement park/theme park place. I would like to eat at the Bunny Hop or Golden China again or have a drink at the Rusty Scupper in my nehru or leisure suit. Good times! |

Essex Green (W. Orange) Throwback I remember the Bunny Hop and Golden China. I got YA Tittle's autograph at Carr's Dept. Store. |

Pig and Prince - new Gastro Lounge in Montclair You could always order the ubiquitous "Ceasar salad!" |

Moderately priced dinner in Bernardsville on Monday? Bistro 73 sounds good, but it appears to be closed on Mondays. We'll try it another time. Morini looks good. Is Equus out of business? |

Thanks! They should have put up a sign at the original site |

I noticed this fine wine shop which was a good pick up site for the local BYOB restaurants closed. I guess I stopped getting their emails awhile ago. Anyone know what happened? |

Has anyone tried this restaurant? |
