Bruno's on Ocean in Santa Monica?
i love brunos. they have a very simple menu, they do the italian classics, but they do them well. everytime i go i order the chicken parm, the chicken is huge, it takes up a whole plate. cheap house wine and cozy old world italian atmosphere add to the pluses. it's not the best food in the world, but it is definatly worth trying.
Chinese Food on the West Side
Good chinese is really hard to find around here. Have not really found much, but I go to Szechwaun on Washington at abbot kiney often. They are pretty basic but decent. My boyfriend and I go for the cold peanut noodles, but some of their entrees are good as well, particularly the sizzling chicken. Also, at work we have been ordering from Mandarin, on Pico and it is actually very good. They do a good attempt at general tsos chicken which is something that is rare to find out here.
Thanksgiving out anywhere from LA to San Diego
I have researched this topic and have not found much so I am going to try again. I am looking for a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner, preferably between LA and San Diego for 8 people. I have family in Santa Monica looking to meet half way with family in San Diego. Just looking for quality food and a cozy place to spend with my family. Can be either fixed menu or buffet style. Ideally looking to spend no more the 60pp, but I'm open to all suggestions.
Take the Cannoli ... but from where?
Bravo has their canolis shipped from ferraras in new york. they are good, but they also make a canoli cookie that is really awesome. 2 chocolate chip cookies with canoli cream in the middle. heavenly.

VENICE BEACH!!
My favorite restaurant in Venice is Casablanca on Lincoln and Rose. It is a few blocks away from the boardwalk, but well worth it. Awesome food, good prices, and unique atmosphere as it is Casablanca themed. The best part of the restaurant is the traditonal mexican lady situated in the middle of the restaurant grilling fresh homemade tortillas which are served to every table with an outstanding avocado salsa. I'd go for one of their tender calamari steaks as a main course. Food is good, prices are decent, and def. try their margaritas.
Good place to go eat before Dodger game
Going to my first Dodger's game tonight, only because I have to support my fighting Phils. Have never been, looking to get dinner before game, any recomendations? Nothing too fancy or expensive.
26 Beach Cafe... Delicious!
I've been to 26 Beach a few times and I would only recommend it for breakfast or brunch. Atmosphere is cute and cozy, but dinner menu is overpriced and tasteless. The first time I ordered an overpriced burger, the next a pasta dish, and each were nothing special. Breakfast, however, is a different story. LOVE the reeses pieces french toast. amazing. They have lots of interesting concoctions, worth trying for sure.
Bay Cities vs. Claro's Italian Sandwich
Ha I agree that crowds at an Italian deli do not classify it as a "scene". I live in Santa Monica, very close to Bay Cities and though they do not make the best sandwiches in the world, they are decent. I believe I go there for the same reason everybody does, because they are the only Italian deli around. To me the scene isnt the problem, but the biggest problem with that place is the terrible help behind the deli counter. They are rude, slow, and have no idea how to make a quality italian sandwich. What Bay cities needs to do is take some of the outrageous amounts of money they are making on their overpriced food and hire a whole new effecient staff. Those lines wouldnt be half as long if they had people behind there that gave a damn.
philly cheesesteak!
They really have Yuengling? Didnt think there was anywhere in LA with that...
