1 year anniversary - small, seasonal and intimate.

Hearth is definitely on the list - we live near there and The Eddy and pass by all the time.

I heard the Cote Du Boeuf is incredible.

Annisa is on my list - and I just read about New Almanac today. I'm going to look into Recette now!

I always overlook Craft because it's been around for so long but it is a good option - I added it to the list!

I was researching the Eddy a couple of nights ago - I'll take a closer look and also look into The Simone! Thanks!

I've heard polarizing reviews about Estella, people either love it or they hate it; I had one friend go as far as saying it was the "grossest ever".

I've really wanted to try it but with that remark I'm nervous to try for a special occasion.

I love ABC Kitchen (one of my fave restaurants)- but I work near there and go often. Also, it's a little too big and loud for what I am looking for.

1 year anniversary - small, seasonal and intimate.

Our 1 year anniversary is coming up and we would like something special (duh).

My favorite restaurant is Battersby in Brooklyn - I love the seasonal food, ever changing menu, attention to detail, knowledgeable staff and the way the restaurant always makes me feel like I'm their number one priority. I wish they took reservations and were in Manhattan.

My beau is a meat/burger/pizza/burrito type. He enjoys a good meal and does go outside of his comfort zone but for the most part he eats like a teenager with a taste for bourbon. I would say his favorite restaurant is the Brindle Room (but he only ever orders the burger).

I think he would like a good aged steak for our anniversary and I would like the creativeness, and ambiance of Battersby (I had monkfish there once that changed my life).

After some research we thought Little Owl (oddly enough we have never been) would be nice but they don't have any open reservations for March 13th. We'd like to keep the bill to $200.00 and under (I'm only good for 1 drink). As far as location is concerned we'd like to try to stay in Manhattan and be below Madison Square Park. However, for the right place we would go outside the parameters.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - I've been waiting patiently to make reservations for Barley Swine & Uchiko. December hasn't come out yet and I keep checking back every day!!

We'll be getting in late at like 9:30 on December 3rd (my actual Birthday) and will probably drop luggage off first - I don't want to make a reservation in case we run into some weather problems. Where do you think we should eat that night?

I would probably only go to Uchi or Uchiko for their fusion dishes. Only because I'm not a die hard sushi fan. I like it but I feel like I can get fatty tuna sashimi anywhere (reputable).

However, I'll check out Congress and Jeffrey's. Thanks so much!

Looking on yelp I was really quite intrigued with Barley Swine (your reco),TRIO and Carillon.

Jo's is on my list already so definitely going to do that.

I don't think Green Pastures is going to work because our flight is at 1:00 p.m.

Eden East sounds amazing and right up my alley!

Thank you so much!

@Dinaofdoom - for GF I really want a place that feels like a great normal restaurant that is knowledgeable in GF cooking and is known for that. The food shout be awesome though and not taste GF.

We don't have a lot of BBQ here in NYC so I was unaware of it not being GF - thanks for letting me know!

Hi!! So I am visiting Austin for my Birthday December 3rd (night) - 7th (midday). My boo and I are big foodies from New York City and our vacation is going to be planned around our meals!

We will be staying in an Airbnb on Bartlett near South Congress. We will not be renting a car but have no problems renting bikes or using cabs/uber.

I need:

Best Burger (Swift's Attic???)
Best Ice Cream
Best WOWZY ZOWY Birthday dinner ($$$$)
Best BBQ (Franklins???)
Best Gluten Free
Best Weekend Brunch (La V??? Also, Bloody Marys!)
Best Tacos (everyone has a different answer for me)
Best places to grab quick breakfasts
Favorite Food trucks

OK, I know that's a tall order but I trust you guys the most!!!

Restaurant Rec [for a small office of 6 HOLIDAY LUNCH] in Flatiron/Chelsea/Gramercy/Union Square area

No clue, they are kind of close minded and have pre-conceived notions about things without further investigation. They tend to judge by the cover. We're casting directors, so that what we do.

Thanks everyone - I printed out some menus and am going to show them to the group. As for Giorgio's - we order in from there all the time. I know for a fact they wont want to go there to eat. Thanks though!

I like the idea of ABC kitchen because we can shop afterwards or before!

I've only gotten pastries from Maialino and have never eaten there. Would you say it's too uptight for the group?

Restaurant Rec [for a small office of 6 HOLIDAY LUNCH] in Flatiron/Chelsea/Gramercy/Union Square area

We're a small office of 6 that is more like a family. We do a Holiday lunch every year and exchange small gifts. We're located on 27th & Broadway and prefer to travel away from midtown so Flatiron, Chelsea, Union Square and Gramercy is best. I recommended a few places to everyone but they got shot down for being too "uptight" (Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, Gotham Bar & Grill and Del Posto). So alas I have come to Chow for advice.

Here are the requirements:

- Open for lunch on December 22nd
- Near[ish] 27th & Broadway
- $35 or under per person (not including drinks)
- relaxed/fun environment (NOT UPTIGHT), we tend to laugh a lot
- varied menu for the picky eaters
- can accommodate a table of 6 people with gifts

Please help me out!!!

*BEST* Coq Au Vin/French Resto - For birthday dinner?

It's that time of year again where I need to find a restaurant for my birthday! This year I am coming well prepared with very specific needs! I will bullet them and price is not an issue.

- Anywhere between Flatiron/Chelsea and the West Village (So basically mid to lower west side of Manhattan)
- Regular A La Carte menu available (we don't eat enough for prixe fix and are known to share)
- Amazing Coq Au Vin (been on a kick ever since I had it at DB Bistro Moderne)
- Known for great desserts or at least make them there and don't fall flat in that area.
- Good for special occasions

If my needs are too specific please list French restaurants without Coq Au Vin too!
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Custard selection for OCT at Shake Shack

I am eating a Hopscotch concrete with pumpkin spice custard from Shake Shack right now. My co-worker tasted it and said it was a really solid choice. I need to confess that it really is one of the most delicious flavored custards I have ever had. GO GET IT!

I really want to know what the Shakenstein flavor is though. They only serve it on Sunday :(

Foodie Staying for 3 nights and 3 1/2 days in Miami/South Beach Oct.8-11

I am going on vacation to South Beach during the long Columbus day weekend. I love finding new restaurants and hidden gems. We are Willing to take cabs/public transit, price is not an issue and we're not big drinkers (a nice selection beer is a plus though) . I also appreciate cheap ethnic eats that only the locals know about. We love breakfast and most likely will have small snack like lunches (does Miami have street food/trucks?) and bigger dinners. We are also really into ice cream and dessert. Ideally, I would like to have a big wowie zowie blowout dinner on Saturday night. The one limitation is that my boyfriend doesn't eat pork or seafood without scales, so there would have to be things on the menu for him too.

Please let me know if there are any more details you need!

Looking for a a small intimate gem on the LES

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! I forgot to mention not too pricey, we're starving artist types that enjoy good food but not a big check. We don't drink so I know that will keep the price down.

Looking for a a small intimate gem on the LES

I am going on a first date and we would like to hear each other talking and be able to have an intimate conversation. I suggested Piadina and then the Smith but he didn't want to go there. He suggested Essex and Stanton Social but we both agreed they were too loud and trendy. So now we are at a loss for ideas. The requirements are excellent food, intimate environment, friendly wait service and on the LES. Any ideas?
