So John Willoughby's article in todays NYT about Maine bean holes got me thinking - as I'm about to lose my ktchen to a renovation - about applying those recipes to a slow cooker. Anyone have any good tips about how to convert recipes from oven or stove top to slow cooker?

Actually ate there last night. While the place was pretty dead (tho admittedly it was Sunday night at 6:30), we thought the food was outstanding. The papaya/mango salad was delightful, crispy, and bright. The spiced edamame were a bit gooey, but actually yummy. We LOVED the roti canai, the shrimp shumai, and the spicy (salmon?) wontons. The Kung Pao tofu was also delightful and fresh. Plus when we said that one in our party had a peanut allergy, the wait staff were extremely solicitous and verified with the kitchen what he could/should not eat. All in all, successful, albeit VERY quiet.

It's been a while since anyone has updated Chowhound's thoughts on Central Square Cambridge, overall. Thoughts on best eats? Best cheap eats?

Has anyone bought prune plums yet this season in Greater Boston, and if so, where?

My husband and I and our college-bound, sophisticated eater son discovered moto-i this labor day and what a treat! The steamed buns with pork belly, hoisin, and scallions are AMAZING and the bulgogi/lettuce wraps were pretty impressive, too. Not to mention, the choices of incredible sakes. We were really impressed with the decor and staff, too, a perfect hit on a slow, wet afternoon...

Thanks for the suggestions. Probably can't make it to H-Mart today, but will try to get up there on the weekend. Lots of mangoes in the kitchen made me want to make Thai Sticky Rice w Mangoes for dessert tonight. I'll have to improvise!

Has anyone got a good uptodate list of shops where one can buy sticky (glutinous) rice, especially in the western 'burbs? According to phone calls, it's not available @ Whole F, nor at my local natural foods store.
