San Miguel de Allende - feedback on a few places
COMMENT ON JACKIE'S BEING CLOSED IS FALSE. SHE ONLY CHANGED THEIR CLOSING DAYS FROM WED TO SUNDAY NT AND ALL DAY MONDAY. WE DINED THERE LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS DIVINE AS USUAL. . CARROT-VANILLE SOUP FOLLOWED TRUFFLE OIL-MUSHROOM RISOTTO, BY POTATO ENCRUSTED SNAPPER FILET, ROASTED QUAIL IN ORANGE-MADEIRA SAUCE WITH RED CABBAGE, AND THE FAMOUS DUCK..DELICIOUS ALL, FAB TIRAMISU AND FRUIT CREPES.
San Miguel de Allende - feedback on a few places
we visit JACKIE'S SAN ANTONIO frequently, no disappoinments yet. also not priceyer then other restaurant of its type ( non-mex) : yesterday we had a delicious bowl of cream of garlic soup (60 pesos), a mixed green salad with seared tuna (95 pesos), risotto with truffle essence/shitaki/parmesan 115 pesos(incredibly wonderful) and followed with 1 pasta primavera (80 pesos),beef filet (best ever!) w. bearnaise sauce/veg ( 250 pesos), escolar fish (145 pesos) and portwine/figs sauce on duck (220pesos). the place is gorgeous to say the least, with fab indoor/outdoor seating filled w. lavender and class music. the food and service are exquisit - the owner is super attentive and makes each guest feel specially welcome. surely the best flavor /value in sma this moment. we'll be back. FORGOT TO MENTION THAT JACKIE'S HAS HE MOST FAB VIEWS FROM HER PLACE OVER ALL OF SMA - AND, IF YOU HAVE STAIR DIFFICULTY, THERE'S AN ELEVATOR/VALET PKG TOO
New Year's Eve in San Miguel de Allende
jackie's has added a new 1st floor room overlooking the square. all enclosed and well heated for this unusually cold period in sma. beautiful ambiance too, excellent food/service..same as 'upstairs'. only inconvenience: one must use the stairs to go 1 fl up/down, whereas the 2nd indoor/outdoor is reached by elevator. still by far our favorite in sma. harriet
San Miguel de Allende Restaurants
there is a brand new one called jackie's san antonio. we have been several times. it's gorgeous and sophisticated with great views indoor/outdoors, real gourmet food, now best in town, they have ESCOLAR fish, I am told it's like monk fish, o.o.this world 145 pesos. wonderful truffle risotto 115 pesos and the worlds best duck, I think it was with figs..totally yummy. 2nd floor w. elevator tel (I think : 11-02223) not sure
do you eat American style or European style?
the one thing I often notice when dining o.o.europe: people return their used knife onto the edge of the plate with the handle touching the table. european true'table etiquette' does not permit it, one should keep ones utensils on top of the plate completely, on the outer edges, one left and right, while not in use - joining them towards right side when dining is completed.....also , do not CUT bread, break it by hand. and ALWAYS wipe your mouth before putting your glass - water/wine etc to your lips.
