Post 9/11 tour restaurant with private room for family of 23
You could try Les Halles downtown, Delmonico's or Capital Grille but they're all going to be pricey especially around the holidays. Good Luck.

Matawan/Keyport Taquerias
I've also noticed that they are occasionally out of items, but their full menu is great and there's always a great alternative. The cubana torta is a little different than you would expect as it has the addition of a fried egg and it's the perfect hangover killer. If you ask for the fries "well done" on a take out order, this is one of the few places to actually deliver crisp fries by the time you get home. As good as the tortas, burritos, and seafood items are, I still always gravitate towards 3 to 4 tacos (Carnitas, Enchiladas (Pork also), Lengua) - they're all great. The Molcajete can feed a family of 4.

Bergen County Knife Sharpening Service?
I would also recommend getting your own. I have the Model 120 which also sharpens serrated knives. This is great as I sharpen all of my knives twice a year.

My wife and I had been going to North of the Border in Red Bank so I'm glad to see that there are options closer to home. We tried El Pollo Y La Oaxaquena last night mainly because a buddy of mine used to own a deli/convenience store there years ago and I wanted to see what it looked like inside. My carnitas taco and burrito were excellent. Similar to your post, my wife wanted a carnitas torta, but they were out of bread, but they simply offered an alternative and made her a quesadilla. Prices are great. We are looking forward to trying La Mexicana, and if things work out, these places will replace Aby's as our go to Mexican joints.

My wife and I went to North of the Border yesterday and will certainly be back many times to try other offerings. I had the carnitas tacos and my wife had a carnitas cemita. They were both fresh and full of flavor.

Restaurant Recommendations for Alpharetta
Thanks - now that I look at a map again, I realized I've also been to Cabernet.
Restaurant Recommendations for Alpharetta
I'll be in Alpharetta on business next week and have a night free. I've been to Ray's Killer Creek in the past, but am looking for other recommendations from locals. Thanks.
Bay Avenue Trattoria - Highlands
I always used to describe BAT as "upscale food in a diner/dive setting" so I'm glad to hear that the decor has been updated a little. Regardless of the decor, though, we were always there for the food which was well worth it, and the BYOB aspect helped to keep the cost down.
shanghai bun, matawan nj // gross ANY decent dumpling places in Central Jersey?
I've always done take-out and have never been disappointed. The shrimp shu-mai, scallion pancakes, and spicy beef noodle soup are excellent. The lunch special offerings, which come with wonton soup, actually have a good amount of the main dish rather than piles of rice with just a few pieces of chicken or beef mixed in. I know it's not the prettiest decor to look at, but it's all about the food.
SUPER BOWL...What's on your menu
I'll be rubbing down my pork shoulder tonight for its slow smoke session on Sunday morning. With the pulled pork, I'll be making baked beans, vinegar based cole slaw, and once everyone has made sandwiches, I'll make a few pulled pork pizzas. During the ridiculously long pre-game, we'll have veggies & dip, cheese & salami, hummus, guacamole and plenty of beer. Enjoy everyone.
length of chef's knife desired
This is a great site for buying great knives at great prices. I particularly like the Victorinox Forschners. A good 8 inch chef's knife is key.

Restaurant Options for Monmouth or Ocean County
Bistro Ole would be my choice - you can't go wrong. Just remember to bring a few bottles of wine so they can make their sangria for you.
Matawan: Restaurants busting out all over...
Cafe 34 is not worth trying. I give it credit for surviving this long as nothing has lasted long in that location. I ordered a martini on the rocks and they charged me $1 for the ice stating I deviated from the original, yet the drink was smaller in a rocks glass. My father ordered a shrimp and pasta dish which was $24 and he got 3 shrimp. This was unacceptable for an entree.
'nduja, 'nduja, where can I do ya?
I'm not sure which restaurants are using it, but you can buy it retail from Murray's Cheese. If they are getting it from Boccalone in San Fran, then I can attest that it is delicious.
Union Pork Store, Union, NJ
Thanks, but I'm in the same boat as jethro where it's mainly supermarket varieties. I too am looking for homemade sausages and tasty forced meats. The website looks good and I was wondering if anyone has had the HOT Italian sausage and can give me an indication of its level of heat.

Has anyone tried the hot Italian sausage? If so, is it hot? Lately, I have not been able to find an Italian sausage that's hot enough as advertised. Please let me know.

Best beer and burger in Northern Monmouth
I went to Maloney's in Matawan last week. I didn't have the burger, but my wife did and was pleased with the result. The real draw is the beer selection with 16 on tap and over 150 in bottle from around the world.
New to the Matawan area
Mahzu to me is fast food sushi - a good place to bring the kids as it's loud with nothing particularly special. Kicky's opened down the road and has much better sushi along with hot items as well, and it's a little more sophisticated. If my wife and I are doing sushi, we prefer Kicky's or Aligado in Hazlet or Yumi in Sea Bright but that's for another post. I agree with the other posts regarding Aby's, Shanghai Bun, Denino's, Bacci or Enzo's. West Lake has a great Sunday Dim Sum menu. Mc Donagh's Pub in Keyport is good as well for bar food. Good Luck.

Uncle Philly's Cheesesteak Hot Dogs - Sausage - Burgers Old Bridge NJ
Went to try this yesterday as my pregnant wife was looking for a new cheeseburger in town to try. I ended up walking out as the same guy who was handling all of the raw meat was also making the completed sandwiches. I alerted the owner so hopefully they change their ways.
