Michael's Genuine Disappointment - Sra. Martinez Saves the Night

There was a time when Michael's was consistently good but in the last year or two, they have gotten off track. Out of the last five dinners there, we were happy with just two while the other three meals were average or below. The grilled meats were unseasoned, tasteless and not worth the effort. We've stopped going to the restaurant except for brunch which remains quite good.

Salads in Broward County

There is a Salad Bowl and Deli on E. Broward Blvd that's pretty decent. The deli looks like a fast food restaurant but the choices are plenty. Portions are nice and big for the price. Many office workers go there for salads during the lunch hour so it's best to avoid it during the rush hour.

Miami - Boca to Naples - where can we stop for lunch?

Try Doris Italian Market in Sunrise if it's not too far out of your way. They have amazing italian gourmet food and baked goods. We go there for their fine Ciliengine salads and to catch up on local gossip. Tell them Angelique told you to go and they just might invite your table with dessert.

The Great Stone Crab Hunt!

'Tis the Season for those beautiful two clawed crustaceans to meet my mallet! Sure would like to hear from y'all locals in-the-know for places to hunt for those sidewinding critters when I'm slummin' along city streets from Miami to North Hollywood and south to the Everglades.

I'm looking for FRESH crabs sold from a truck / van parked along the side of a road that are reasonably priced for medium (< $8) and large (<$11) claws, no jumbos. Please save recommendations for restaurant crabs like Joe's, Monty's, Billy's, Kelly's, Captain this 'n that, for the tourist board! Local non-chain fish markets or food stores (like Penn Dutch) shoutouts will also be gratefully received.

Suggestions to be compiled and the hounds with the best recs will receive a virtual dvd entitled Getting Stoned on Crabs.
