Early Sunday dinner near Geffen Playhouse (Westwood)

I was referring to "Shamshiri's" website - their lack of displaying the hours they're open for business is a "fundamental" problem.

Early Sunday dinner near Geffen Playhouse (Westwood)

I am always SHOCKED when a restaurant's website doesn't list when it is open!!!! It is such a FUNDAMENTAL obvious piece of "needed" info. And, I couldn't find it on Shamshiri's website either, or on Yelp; however, I believe it is open 11 or 11:30 a.m. through dinner everyday.

When in doubt, just call and ask them = (310) 474-1410

Please help me with a wiener!

If your right about it being a Bockwurst - the 2 following restaurants, also part of the L.A.-Uberopolis sausage scene, have it:

Venison in LA?

Just some thoughts on the above so far based on their on-line menus:

Saddle Peak Lodge - "Elk" Tenderloin = close enough ? ask hubbie; but no "Venison" entree.

Cut, Josie, Scarpetta & Craft = Zero

And I'll add:

Melisse - French - Santa Monica - Millbrook "Venison" Loin. You'd still have to call and confirm it'll be available this Friday (check under just "menu" } and/or still being offered at all:

http://melisse.com/menu

Patina - French (?) - Downtown L.A. - Millbrook Farm Venison (different cut than above ?):

.

There are 1 or 2 places in Orange County, is that too far? You gave no geographic guidelines.

No Dim Sum West Of The 405?

Unfortunately, for those of us who were born and raised here, everything north of Mulholland Dr. is considered the "Forbidden Zone" (think back to the original Planet of the Apes movie) and I personally am " NOT " allowed to go there.

No Dim Sum West Of The 405?

So - If I can correctly surmise all that I have read above me:

..West of the 405 - beer and dim sum simply don't add up....

Is that right ?

Veteran's Day " DEAL " ~ $11 Entrees + and $11 bottles of Wine . . . Mio Babbo's - Westwood Village

Walked by and notice a sign in the window that said - every 100 years on 11/11/11 = $11 entrees + soup or salad and $11 Bottles of wine.

Mio Babbo's - 1076 Gayley Ave. (310) 208-5117

And NO, I don't work for them in an capacity.

Fried Oysters and Scotch

Can it be spiced in any way?

Harold & Belle's ~ Creole ~ Mid-City L.A-ish ~ Only 3 different Scotch-es behind the bar though:

Pre-game "tailgate" meal in Westwood

Affordable, and 1 short block from UCLA campus, is my favorite pizza in Westwood Village: Enzo's (1 brief phone call to confirm your group of 15-20, it's kind of small but they have enough room):

Just in case you may have forgotten, or were unaware, the Beverly Hills Hotel is part of the Dorchester Collection which is owned by the Sultan of Brunei, and/or one of his relatives. Business Dinner -$50 pp without wine-West LA

Not a whole lot of info to go by:

Very private or more of a celebration ? ;
Type/Style of establishment - Cutting edge or more traditional ? ;
Cuisines to avoid ? ; ect., ect., ect. ; However:

Pastina - Italian - WLA - Upscale for business but not stuffy high-end-ish $$$$.

Doable within your price limitations off their regular menu or the 4 course Prix Fixe for $24.95:

Sumac?

I also bought some Sumac over the weekend for the first time in Westwood. I had no intention of buying it at Whole Foods but checked it out first out of curiosity as spices sold in your average supermarket have outrageously high markups/prices.

Whole Foods on Gayley in Westwood Village - $2.99 for 4 "tenths" of an ounce.

Jordon Market - 1449 Westwood Blvd. (3 1/2 blocks south of Wilshire) - $1.99 for 4 ounces (& $4.99 for 12 1/2 ounces).

That means to buy 4 ounces at Whole Foods it would cost you $29.90; or, to put it another way, it is "15" TIMES more expensive at WF !!

Rehearsal Dinner for around 20 people in Santa Monica close to the church

What time of day would you like the meal to begin and will this be a Saturday ?

Best place to gorge on raw oysters in LA?

FYI - Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Monica
Happy Hour - $1.00 apiece - Any Good ? Don't Know, I don't eat Oysters anymore.

Beef Wellington

Not Downtown, but here's 2 more (I haven't personally tried either though):

Whale & Ale - San Pedro
http://www.whaleandale.com/

"Beef Wellington; the best Choice Filet Mignon, packed with mushroom duxelle (finely chopped mushrooms, garlic butter & seasoning) wrapped in puff pastry & baked. Périgourdine sauce (beef stock reduction with marsala, chopped black truffles), vegetables or mashed fresh potatoes"

Pate or No Pate - Are we going to have that debate again ?

Looking for an extremely unique and fun restaurant in LA for a birthday party! Help?

Without asking a lot more questions; I've made the following assumptions:

1) Guelagetza entree prices are $15 or less and that's the price range your looking for.
2) You all want to sit at one table.
3) Your group is its own entertainment; however, anything live would be a plus.
4) "good alcohol" means a full bar.

Russian dinning is good for groups.

Roberts Russian Cuisine - I've haven't made it there yet, but I'll use it as an example. The entree prices work. It maybe just beer and wine; however, I do see bottles of Vodka in the picture below so maybe it's byo? And if byo, it will bring down the cost of the meal. The picture shows a group of about your size (other pictures show the menu and more vodka):

Bangers in LA?

How much does Bob charge for a jar of Coleman's ?

On the Westside - a 3.5 oz. jar typically sells for $4.99 to $5.50 (until it gets too near the sell by date, then they mark it down to $2.49 to $2.99).

Breakfast menu + fresh squeezed juices (apple, orange, grapefruit, etc.) = ???

Fresh Orange & Grapefruit, but no Apple and not for the budget minded:

Where to find good mom n pop Iranian?

There are 6 Persian restaurants in Westwood within 10(?) blocks of each other:

From what you requested, IMHO, I would suggest Shamshiri, then Attari (which has a limited menu - i.e. no stews & the best Mom & Pop-ish-ness of the 6):

Attari - 1388 Westwood Blvd.

Shaherzad - 1422 Westwood Blvd.

Are there any restaurants where you've actually tried every single item on the menu?

O.K., I'll bite:

Matsuhisa

Knoll's Black Forest (R.I.P) - Everything but the Pig's Knuckle & any item with cheese (about 2?).

Century City: Why must we suffer like this? - Sen Asian Kitchen

Excuse my ignorance, but what, who, are "D-girls" ?
