Fresh Ramen Noodles?

I saw them the last time I bought Sun Noodles. I was tempted, but I don't get over to Nijiya enough, and I was afraid of disappointment. Those Sun noodles are so good.

Fresh Ramen Noodles?

Sun Ramen Noodles are sold at Nijiya and are the best fresh ramen noodles, I think. I started buying them after reading about them on Serious Eats.

Best Bay Area bagels?

I'm not from NY. I'm just a CA girl that likes a very chewy bagel and I think Baron's are great! The best part is that I can get them at the Potrero Whole Foods, which I go to often. Maybe more now that I get those bagels.

Koi Palace / Daly City vs. Dublin (locations)

Yes, the earlier the better. When we leave after our 9am breakfast, the lobby is usually packed to the gills. So that's around 10:15 or 10:30. Crazy!

Koi Palace / Daly City vs. Dublin (locations)

I'm not surprised. I went there with a party of 3 on a weekday lunch and we waited almost an hour. Ugh. I usually go on Sunday morning with my family and we arrive right when they open at 9 and we never have to wait. We have small children, so we're up early anyways. But it's worth the effort even if you don't have kids.

I have not been to Kissako, but according to Y#%p reviews they no longer serve bentos. Too bad, because they really look great.

Tacos La Potranca in King City

Oh, yes. We've had it. Pretty good too. Their porchetta sandwich is good too. Not as good as Roli Roti, but still good.

Potrero Hill area? [San Francisco]

Yes, second Hazel's and especially Neighbor Bakehouse. Try the Everything croissant. Mr. & Mrs. Miscellaneous has awesome ice cream. Better than Bi-Rite in my opinion.

Tacos La Potranca in King City

There is an Italian tripe sandwich that we had in Florence that is delicious. I think we were kind of thinking this torta would be a mash-up of that and a Mexican torta.

Tacos La Potranca in King City

We stopped here again over the weekend. The lengua tacos were as good as last time. They came with nicely peeled, though barely pickled carrots and pickled jalapeƱos. We also got a tripas torta, not knowing that there is a difference between tripas and tripe. We were surprised by the tubes that seemed to have been braised and then browned on the flat-top to order. They were slightly chewy with a mild flavor. A little too close in visuals to chittlins, I didn't finish my half. My husband ate his. After a little research we found that tripas are small intestines, not stomach. I probably wouldn't order this again. The torta itself is good though. I'll get some other meat next time. All in all, a great taco stop. Quick and delicious.

How to eat canned smoked trout

I love that smoked trout from TJ's. I always have a couple cans on hand. We do a standard salad with smoked trout on top. I've made a delicious spread with it. Just mix with a tiny bit of mayo and whole grain mustard. It's good on a bagel as a spread or as chunks with cream cheese and tomatoes.

closest thing to fresh Langer's rye around here

Oh, I forgot about that corn rye at TJ's. It's really good.

Lychee fans rejoice!

I got some at Potrero Whole Foods a few weeks ago and they were the best I've ever had. Juicy, sweet, a little tart. It was like a different fruit than the ones I've bought at Asian markets over the years. Must have been those Hawaiian ones. I have no idea how much I paid

Balompie #3 on Mission opens at 9am on Saturday. Breakfast at Tiffany's on San Bruno Ave. in the Portola does a good breakfast.

Breakfast around Union Square [San Francisco]

I don't recommend Wise Son's hash. Giant pieces of meat and potatoes and bell peppers. Not hash-like at all. Their rye bread is delicious, though. And their chopped liver is awesome.

Sushi Sam's - My First Time, But Not My Last [San Mateo]

You probably don't see escolar on many menus because of the problems that some people have digesting it. Google it. It's not pretty. Although, in the amount someone would ingest in an order of nigiri, they probably wouldn't have a problem. I speak from experience.

House made bagels

I've really enjoyed Earl's Bagels which are only available on Sunday mornings at All Good Pizza in the Bayview. I like a really chewy, dark bagel with lots of seeds. I don't know if that's authentic for all you authenticity policemen(and women), but it's what I like. Earl's are all of those things. My jaw was sore after eating them. Score! Not cheap, but worth the price for me. I think they were 6 for $10. Half dozen or dozen only.
As an unrelated side note, I got a couple Baron's Bagels at the Potrero Whole Foods last weekend. They were really good. I didn't know Whole Foods had them. I'll be back for those

Pineapple Whip near Balboa Park BART [San Francisco]

My daughter and I went there last Saturday afternoon. We had to wait too. Seems like they might need a second machine. But we really enjoyed the Dole Whip. Smooth, creamy texture. Not icy at all. We will be back. They also have really inexpensive, simple sandwiches that looked great. Done on a panini press. Could be a nice alternative to Roxie Food Market sandwiches in that area.
