Can anyone recommend a restaurant in Manhattan (Midtown to Downtown) that does exceptional gnocchi? Nice and fluffy, not hard and gluggy. I really need some good comfort food.

Called today and just happened to score a cancellation res at 8:30. Taking my best friend who is visiting from Australia. Anyway - I'm just very happy. Any ordering suggestions? And does "jacket required" mean tie as well?

I'm making coq au vin on Monday and have some chicken livers in my fridge so I was thinking... should I saute the livers with the bacon and add them to the final dish? Or is this an offal idea?

Hi,
I foolishly agreed to cook a French dinner for my friends at the end of the month. Was wondering if anyone had any easy - no prep, appetizer ideas. I was thinking a nice pate with cornichons and a green salad. But I really want to make everything myself and pate sounds rather challenging. Any ideas welcome.
