Atlantic City Day Trip

Might be too late now -- but White House Sub Shop one Arctic Ave. would be one obvious suggestion.

Restaurant suggestions for Atlantic City.

For Mexican near Albany Ave., there is also Mexico Restaurant (3810 Ventnor Ave.) (see previous reviews on this board). And I echo the earlier reviewers on Dock's. For Italian, look for reviews of Cafe 2825 on this board.

Italian around Baltimore

Pasta Plus in Laurel. Less expensive than Little Italy. Fresh pasta, but also your basics. I can't recommend it highly enough.

25th anniversary A.C. Please help!

Dock's Oyster House (http://www.docksoysterhouse.com/) is a go to place for classic seafood, fish, and steaks. Definitely appropriate for a special occasion.

Dress at Tio Pepes

No jeans or flip flops. For men, they definitely prefer jackets, though you may be able to get away without one if you are dressed decently.

Spices in bulk [moved from Tristate board]

Punjab Grocery on 33rd St. near the Waverly Farmers' Market has inexpensive spices...

Atlantic City - Need help for a birthday dinner

A little late, but if anyone else happens to be looking, I think Dock's Oyster House would fit the bill-- http://www.docksoysterhouse.com/. it is obviously primarily seafood, but they do have good steaks (so says my husband)...

Atlantic City, New Jersey

there is also manna in ventnor which was mentioned in another thread-
http://www.chowhound.com/topics/420903

because these restaurants are small they are often booked a few weeks in advance, or as far ahead as they take reservations, so definitely plan ahead.

HELP! Desperate for res for 8 in AC

where was your original reservation? i assume you've already tried all of the restaurants at the borgata. you will probably be better of calling to make a res for that many people-- have you tried the restaurants at the pier- sonsie, buddakan, continental? or the restaurants at the quarter? the palm may be the nicest there. sorry no real tricks i can think of.

Congee Vlllage-what to order?

you're probably not veggie- but if i recall correctly, i wasn't so fond of the mushroom and bean curd dish i had there....

Anybody been to The Quarter at the Tropicana?

You could check out the Pier at Caesar's (on the boardwalk) too -- Buddakan and Continental (both Steven Starr, branches of Philly restaurants) and Sonsie (a Boston transplant). There are also a couple more casual places. For Italian, there is Cafe 2825, which is not in a casino (there are a couple of threads on it). And Dock's Oyster House (on Atlantic Ave.) is a good old standby for seafood-- it's been around forever and still good, and a more intimate/subdued setting.

Pitango Gelato in Fells Point

i too have been missing casa di roma-- pitango is definitely a different thing. i've only tried the sorbet-- the mojito was chock full of fresh mint, and the wineberry also obviously was made with fresh fruit, hence the seeds another poster mentioned.

Vegetarian Grilling Menu

grilled pizza was a hit for us... most of the recipes we found (bobby flay on food network and cook's illustrated) were for a thin crust, but ours was thick and still delicious...

What things do you add to your oatmeal to make it interesting?

not as exciting as some of the others, but i add frozen strawberries or blueberries, cinnamon and some wheat germ for some extra nutrition...

Tiramisu in Baltimore

When my husband first went in there a couple of years ago after we returned from our honeymoon in Italy, the owner told him that he invented tiramisu, so of course we had to try it. Like everything else we've tried (mostly cookies and semifreddo) it was very good. We haven't been in there in awhile because it's dangerous, so unfortunately I can't be more descriptive, though after thinking about it I am due for a visit...

Ventnor, Margate,Sommers Point, Atlantic City

Also - Good authentic Mexican at Mexico Restaurant near the Albany Avenue bridge, on Ventnor Ave in AC. A place you would not even notice, but the mole is the real deal. Not so much in the way of vegetarian entrees, but they'll make something if you ask (though it is definitely not their specialty).

Ventnor, Margate,Sommers Point, Atlantic City

I live in Baltimore and my parents are in AC, so I do the route often. In the AC area, I would recommend Dock's, which is a classic. There is a new restaurant called Sage in Ventnor. I haven't been there yet but have heard good things-- they also have an Italian market with fresh pasta, cheeses, and such next door if you are going to be able to cook. Have also heard great things from friends and family about Lobianco in Margate. Bookbinder's (from Philly) recently opened in Linwood, about 10-15 minutes from Ventnor, so no word yet. Also in Linwood is Thai Basil- I don't think there are any Thai places on the island. In Somers Point, the Inlet opened where Sails used to be.

On the way up, if you take Route 40, Richman's is known for its homemade ice cream. I favor the vanilla peanut butter. It's just a few minutes from the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

I have lots more info that I don't have time to post now, but would be happy to respond to any questions and will post again if anything else worth trying comes to mind....

The Himalayan House

I echo the rave review of Himalayan House. My husband and I followed the recommendation, and were blown away. The first time we ate in -- though it is mostly takeout, they do have a small table for two, and we were told they will be adding more-- and the second we took out for a picnic at Fort McHenry. A little trivia--one of the owners, Prem Raja Mahat, has been called the Elvis Presley of Nepal. On our second visit, both of the owners remembered us. Between the hospitality and the amazing and affordable food-- try the Nepalese dumplings-- we will soon be regulars.
