Friend visiting from NYC!
Ah, I've already done all the guus as well as L'Abattoir...I would like to do judas goat, just not sure if it would be substantial enough...but thanks for the suggestions on places ro drink! I loooove gastown!
Friend visiting from NYC!
I keep hearing about hawksworth, guess I should look it up! I guess I'm looking for something slightly trendy but someplace that doesn't compromise style with quality. I was thinking maybe boneta in gastown or perhaps r.tl in yaletown or even the helm? I've done a lot of izakaya & he's the kind of guy who rents out abc kitchen for his birthday bash...not looking for something too pricey, though....

Friend visiting from NYC!
I've been out of town for a few months and now I have a friend from NYC coming to visit me this coming weekend. We want to go out for dinner downtown and perhaps party afterwards....where could you recommend? He's a foodie also and would like to see what the Vancouver food scene has to offer.
Any ideas, friends?
Manhattan Chowhounds, need your advice for FIRST EVER NYC visit!! <3 group dinner/brunch/coffee/BEER <3
For the best coffee you MUST go to La Lanterna di Vittorio in Greenwich Village!

and miss kathyrn: honestly i take most things with a grain of salt, hope there are no hard feelings. it felt like you were peeved at my brevity, but i sincerely do appreciate the lengthy and detailed help you provided nonetheless :)

okay, wow. thanks for your input with a dose of condesention! (man, i hate sounding whiny!!) i was just on my way out of work, which is why my post was so...brief.
but yes, kathryn, my list is longer than just those two. i used those as examples in terms of budget range (cheap to expensive) and type of food (street-ish to refined).
here is my list so far:
Saturday
Breakfast: Baohaus
Lunch: Hangawi (relatives run the place. otherwise why would i go to a vegetarian korean restaurant! oh, right, they have good reviews.)
Dinner: ? (I'll be going to see Phantom of The Opera at the Majestic at 8pm)
Sunday
Breakfast (or Brunch): The Pink Teacup
Mid Day: Yerba Buena
Dinner: Morimoto
Monday
Brunch: The Smith
Lunch: Bar Americain
Dinner: ?
and of course there's snacking in between to consider...!
and yes..I am an iron chef fan..so at the risk of seeming touristy I am going to both morimoto and flay's restaurants...so there! Lol!
ah...i'm salivating already...!

Suggestions for a Birthday Dinner in the Vancouver Area for 2 Tonight!!
It's my birthday today....I really din't plan on doing anything...but a girlfriend made a sudden dinner offer for tonight! I don't want to stretch her pocket too much but I don't want to throw out a suggestion like MacDonalds just because of that. (That's kinda insulting, right?)
we're both kind of foodies and enjoy a great meal, especially at an affordable price.
i get off work late..around 6:30pm in Langley and would like to meet her in the Vancouver or Richmond area (where she lives). If she's paying, I may as well travel! And it's no biggie for me.
Anyways~~! My conundrum is where to go for dinner and hopefully somewhere closeby we can sit afterwards for a good heart-to-heart talk. (I'm thinking a quaint tea house). Vancouver Chowhounds, I need some help, please~!!!!
Roy Rogers - east of Cincy
roy rogers...wow...haven' t heard or seen that one since my days as a child growing up back east :) if i saw one..i'd go just for nostalgia's sake!

Goin' to St. Louis!! Staying at the Hyatt on Chestnut!
MO Chowhounds, help me out, please?
My friend and I are from Vancouver and we're going to SLMO at the end of the month for a 5 day convention..... We'll be staying at the Hyatt Hotel on Chestnut. I looked up Urbanspoon, but all the restaurants that pop up are quite a few blocks away from the hotel and/or the convention centre! Lunch and dinner times will probably be quite short..any suggestions on quick bites?
*and yes, we'll probably be hitting up a food store the day we arrive so we can possibly do packed lunches!
Much thanks in advance :D
