Food shopping [Sydney]
Victor Churchill's is honestly the most pleasant butcher I've ever been to. I could seriously gawk at the meat all day! Next time you get up there, you should try the merguez. It was fantastic barbecued up with some haloumi, eggs and toast : ) The premade wagyu patties weren't half bad either.
I like Formaggi Ocello (http://www.ocello.com.au/products.html) for cheese (obvs) and smallgoods. I think the selection is much better than Norton St. Grocer and it's a more relaxed shopping experience.
Thomas Dux, Fratelli Fresh, Cyril's and DJ's are the other higher end grocers/ specialty shops that I frequent, though they're pretty pedestrian. I've heard about some mythical Spanish smallgoods seller around the Eastern suburbs-- anyone know anything?
Sydney Indian/Pakistani Restaurants
I love Surjit's in Annandale. It's where the Indian nat'l cricket team goes when they're here, apparently : ) If you try it, make sure to order the seekh rampuri!
Where can I buy thin cut short ribs (kalbi style) in Sydney?
Everywhere else I've lived, I've been able to buy huge frozen packs of thin cut beef short ribs at the supermarket, but not so in Sydney. I've only found them at one Asian butcher in Chatswood, and they stock them inconsistently. Where else can I buy them? I'd prefer a butcher/ grocer in the city if possible, but I'm willing to travel a bit.
Where can i buy Pink Salt in Sydney
Harris Farms at Broadway stocks it. It's on the shorter shelves with the international ingredients near the meat fridge. I'm not sure about other Harris Farms locations though.
