Sukiyabashi Jiro, Sushi Saito, etc - Reservations question

Thanks for the response! Do you know why other people have been making reservations months in advance then?

Sukiyabashi Jiro, Sushi Saito, etc - Reservations question

I have been calling Jiro (Ginza location), Saito, etc to make a reservation for 2 months in advance, but they all tell me that they only take reservations for this month and next (so up to the end of January right now). How come I keep reading about other hounders making reservations for months in advance? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks all!

Sums up my feelings of (and at) the restaurant perfectly.

Where can I get the (relatively) best frozen Jamaican patties?

I know, there are lots of debates about the best Jamaican patties. But I am looking for the best Jamaican patties that I can get FROZEN, so I don't have to take the subway for two hours every time I want one.

Any suggestions? Are there any grocers / restaurants that sells good frozen Jamaican patties?

Thanks!

Question about wait time at Boqueria

Hi all!

Just wondering, on a Friday or Saturday night, which Boqueria would have a shorter wait time for a table for 4? The Flat Iron location or the Soho one?

Thanks!

Le Bernardin - (almost) heavenly

Had a wonderful dinner at Le Bernardin tonight. We had the chef tasting menu and the Le Bernardin tasting menu. Everything was at least solid, and some dishes (calamari, for example) were fantastic.

The monkfish, in my opinion, was the weakest link. It was tasty, but it's not hard to make monkfish tasty in my opinon. The dish just didn't impress me.

I said it is almost heavenly because I think it is still slightly inferior to Per Se in every way - food, service, decor...

Particularly, I found the room a bit cramped. I'm not sure if they only do this on the weekends, but there are a few tables in the room that clearly don't belong there. It is a bit disappointing, to say the least.

In this regard, Le Bernardin is quite an opposite of Eleven Madison Park. The latter has an elegant and classy decor, but fairly disappointing food. Le Bernardin, on the other hand, has delicious food, but the decor is far from elegant.

That said, overall I still think Le Bernardin is the second best French restaurant in town, edging out Jean Georges.

Now I want to venture out into more ethnic and exotic cuisines (Afghan, Ethiopian, Moroccan... etc). Any recommendations? =)

Anyway, Bon Appétit!

Putting "creativity" aside, how good is Annisa?

Almost all of the negative reviews I've read about Annisa is that the food isn't as creative as people have claimed it to be.

But just looking at the food as food, how tasty is it?

Hi everyone!

Just wondering, what are the best steakhouses in town where I can sit at the bar and order from the main dinner menu?

Thanks guys!
