Anyone else disgusted with dogs in restaurants?

Get over it. Dogs have been sharing our fires , hearths and tables for millennia. The benefits far out weigh your disgust.

WTF Why Tiny Fries?

Why are all the fries in Napa Valley restaurants so tiny? We used to get hot, long, tasty fries and now they are all scrawny runts!

Eggplant-Pepper Tomato Sauce

I hate, hate, hate and despise eggplant. Is there a good substitute? Zucchini?

Napa Favorites

Breakfast is a dud here in the Napa Valley :(

Dinner, head to Cole's, Mustard's, or Rutherford Grill, you cannot miss. Order hearty fare and enjoy!

Chile Gravy

I make very decent roux so I know that was not my problem. This was too light on taste and too heavy in paste. I will not make this again.

Chiles Rellenos

Great suggestion! I make awesome chile rellenos and hell yes I will extract the ribs and seeds prior to blackening/broiling.

Can we make homemade mayonnaise yet?

I use Uncle Eddies eggs in Sonoma. I make my own mayo with Julia Childs recipe and never worry as I do not store it for later use.

Hello, I'm Your Annoying Server

Chill people. Waitstaff saying their name or not; my focus is on the food and then the service. If you are not enjoying the food and your focus is on the service... shrugs to you :)

Devils on Horseback

I followed the recipe the first time :P
These looked so scrumptious I tried them again my way.

Yes to dried plums, port and sugar.

I used center cut bacon, cut each piece in half.

I toasted the remaining bacon on a rimmed baking sheet lined with aluminum at 350 degrees F.

Then I wrapped the primed plums with bacon, skewered them on a stick leaving room for crisping and kept watch as they browned at the same 350 degrees.

After cooling, I stuffed half of them with blue cheese.

Sweet!

Don't Get Duped on Heritage Turkey

Frank, your birds are delicious! We ordered one from Whole Foods in Napa last year and we have one on order this year too. I recommend people go to your website and educate themselves about your birds and methods. I wish I could order one for my mom in Michigan but she lives too far away from a Whole Foods.

SFO & Napa Trip..please help

If you want to stand in line to order and then stand in line for your food, use paper plates and plastic utensils, eat outside, all while paying for over-priced ordinary food, then Taylor's is the place for you. Cindy's Backstreet is a better choice if you want a burger, or anything else plus a much better wine selection. You'll pay just about the same for your meal except for the wine.
