Walk into town, there are some good choices - Meat & Potatoes, Six Penn, Tako.
If you want a sandwich, Peppi's is popular.
Nicky's Thai Kitchen on Western Avenue.

Pittsburgh's Finest?

LeMont is one of those places that you either love or hate. Was there about a year ago for a dinner during the week and it was very good. Still on the old school type menu, great service and good wine steward. The food was good. Do not suggest on a weekend when it is crowded.

If you are interested in Mt. Washington, another great choice is Altius.

My daughter wants to eat dinner on Mt Washington

Monterrey has been closed for renovations. Check to see if it will be open the night you are looking for. I have had good experiences at both. Lemont is more of a fancy old school style.

Weekend in Pittsburgh with 3 year old: suggestions?

Have not been for brunch at Meat & Potatoes...but is popular...make reservation. Check the website for menu: http://meatandpotatoespgh.com/menus/b...

Siena Mercato has 3 establishments. Emporio the meatball joint is liked by most but the food is just OK in my book, but is fun/nice would be good for family. I prefer Mezzo, wood fired pizza, pasta, wine & charcuterie.

Coffee...hope someone else can answer...I just don't go to many coffee places and none in town.

Weekend in Pittsburgh with 3 year old: suggestions?

Not sure where you are staying but there are a few good coffee places that may be closer to where you are staying.
You have some good ideas - Children's Musean, Phipps Conservatory, Zoo is fun if weather is OK. You may like the Carnegie Science Center too.
Grove City shops are 1 hour north off of I79, you should pass it on the way to Pittsburgh.
There is a Costco in Cranberry not far from I79. The Costco's are all similar. Not sure Costco is anything outstanding but may be worth a quick look.
Primanti's in the Strip is Ok but don't expect much except gruff service and not sure if that location has kids items. It is an experience but you may prefer the downtown or suburban locations more. Also, the strip location is cash only.
If you are a foodie, you may like wondering the strip to explore...Penn Mac, Wholey's, Pensys. Gaucho Parrilla Argentina is really popular for a sandwich, too. No seating tho. Some others may have better ideas for eating, but here are a couple but they are BYOB..Piccolo Forno, Noodlehead, Nicky's Thai Kitchen.

Seafood recs in Pittsburgh

Two that we like:
Penn Avenue Fish in the strip. Very casual.
Off the Hook in Warrendale. Nice restaurant setting, more upscale.
Have not been to Luke Wholey's.
Not really a fan of Rolands.
Monterey Bay is closed for renovation.

Pittsburgh rehearsal dinner?

Vallozzi's downtown..went to a rehearsal dinner there on a Friday...probably expensive.
You could try the University Club, the library room..have been there for a party...very nice. There are a few other clubs in Oakland that would have a room (PAA, Twentieth Century Club). Have heard the Union Project that is in old church in East Liberty area is nice for small banquets but not sure about catering and have not been there.

Pittsburgh - restaurant/higher end bar/pub that can accommodate 150 people!

Tough weekend for that unless you rent a party room.
What time of day?
Do you want food?
What area of town?
You could try some catering places like the Union Project or Boiler Room or Schenley Park Cafe. Hofbrauhaus does it during the week.
Good luck.

Trip to Pittsburgh: Where to eat?

Hope you enjoy your visit. If you go to Primanti's you can walk to the one in the Strip District on 18th Street. About 15 minute walk. Remember why this sandwich was created and don't get the #1 cheese steak (in my opinion). Take cash.
Some restaurant suggestions:
Meat & Potatoes - walking distance
Cure - will need to drive
Eleven - walking distance
Dish - drive
Park Brugge Cafe - drive, does not take reservations.
Gaucho Parrilla Argentina if you want another sandwich and only a few stools to eat in.
Pamela's for Breakfast - some love it, especially the crepe pancakes. Obama made it famous. Just a diner.
I am sure others will have suggestions.

Saturday Lunch near Pgh Airport

Both Bocktown and Burgatory are about 2 miles from the Marriott and not out of the way to McDonald.
There is a Don Jose mexican nearby, Ditka's. Papaya Asian and all the big name chains in that area.

Saturday Lunch near Pgh Airport

If your looking for a good beer and decent pub grub the Bocktown is pretty good. Burgatory is in the same area and is a make your own burgers and alcoholic milkshakes, will probably be a long wait so you may be to much to eat if your are going to a early dinner.

Best Pittsburgh Restaurant with a view of the city

Isabella on Grandview has a great view. Expensive and more of a special night type place. Most on Grandview are expensive and some not so good.
You may want to stop and take pictures and go somewhere else to eat if cost is an issue. Or stop by for a drink at the Grandview Saloon or even LeMont.

Pittsburgh to FallingWater - anywhere worth stopping?

Not sure where you are staying but Out of the Fire in Donegal just off the turnpike is good. Helen's @ Seven Springs is good too. If you want real high end and real expensive, Lautrec at Nemacolin Woodlands.
There is another Frank Lloyd Wright home open about 15 minutes away that you may like, Kentuck Knob.
