Cotechino

I think I answered my own question: Faicco's in WV seems to have a stash.

Staying in Tribeca - want to order Chinese tonight - where from?

Grand Sichuan in the west village will deliver to Tribeca and I think is pretty good.

Cotechino

Seeking recommendations on where to buy raw cotechino in manhattan in anticipation of cooking a new years meal. A couple years ago I was living out of state and I ordered some from a NYC butcher which was pretty good but I have since forgotten the name ..

any suggestions? would prefer to not make my own ..

Pata Negra

are you saying that he has the true jamon iberico de bellota, like joselito?? i have been craving this and even went so far as to bring a whole joselito gran reserva back with me from spain last summer (don't ask how). it would be life changing to find a place that has it available at any price.

Allen & Delancey Delivers

We went to A&D last night after reading and hearing a lot about it and were underwhelmed. The atmosphere was certainly very beautiful and romantic but the food (which was what we were particularly interested in) was nothing distinctive. We had the fingerling salad, veal scaloppine, scallops, and beef/cabbage/onion. The preparation and presentation were fine, but the flavors just did not jump out in any particularly memorable way. The drinks (we tried an Allen and a Delancey) were good.

Admittedly I skipped the signature bone marrow because I wasn't feeling the need for such a rich dish, but based on the level of commentary on this board I was expecting almost anything on the menu to be excellent.

Thalassa in NYC?

I have been to thalassa a couple times recently. It is primarily a fish-oriented high end greek restaurant. I found it to be very good although nothing really to write home about. Fresh fish, prepared in relatively simple ways (thats a good thing), and expensive.

the decor is great, very cool interior design. I think this restaurant is a lot of flash with good substance. I would give it a 7.5 on food (le bernardin would be a 10 for fish restaurants)
