Easton's Charcuterie and Prepared Foods - Kensigton Market

Took my daughter to Kensington yesterday with the promise of ice cream. She was very disappointed. I was very happy with the bresaola at Easton's!

New Ideas and Tips from Chefs

A kitchen designer told me that starting the vent hood fan 20 - 30 minutes before you start cooking, gets the air in your kitchen/house circulating out faster. Not really sure if this works because my vent sounds like, and has about as much power as a wheezing old man.

ISO Berreta cheese

I've seen it at Grace Meats on College.

Eat in or takeout

LCBO Strike Survival

Anyone know where the LCBO agency stores are near Parry Sound? Or even on the ouskirts of Toronto?

Sobeys - Why so expensive?

Amen Fiesta Farms! Organic, ethnic and original!

Good Friday downtown?

Don't forget about the parade on College - between Palmerston and Shaw I think. Usually mid afternoon. Some cafes are open, transportation can be tricky.

Food preserving

Does anyone know where I can take a class or course on food preserving - canning etc.? I know there are lots of books on this topic, but I'm interested in a hands on approach, maybe some science too.
thanks.

Best Gourmet Food Shops IN ONE AREA in Toronto?

Fiesta Farms is getting better and better. I'm not loving their meat or seafood - for meat go to Gasparo's @ Bloor + Roxton. FF has lots of Organic produce, ethnic delicacies and some very surprising cheese. Swing down to Fromagerie on College near Ossington for Cheese and bread, and over to Pantry if you need something prepared. Further east on Bloor (from Christie) lots of Asian markets. Just not a lot of seafood options in this area.

Advanced Cooking School in Chiang Mai?

I believe Chiang Mai cookery School has beginner and master level classes, taught at a restaurant and their outdoor cooking studio.

The Best Empanada of My Life

Does anyone know the name of the people who sold Empanadas at the farmers market at the Brickworks this past summer? They also had a really tasty tart. Quince?

Bloor/College ---Ossington/Dufferin

We lovelovelove Banjara for Indian (bloor @ Crawford). Mexitaco is fairly decent/authentic but their Margaritas are from a mix. There is a shwarma place across from Saving Gigi - excellent falafel. laliba(?) for ethiopian. Terrazzo is a new Pizza on Harbord @ Roxton - I really liked the pizza (good crust with integrity - toppings were a little common) though no licence as of last week. Also on Harbord at Roxton, is the Roxton - a fine neighbourhood watering hole with great food.

Ingersoll cheese

Where can I get that snazzy Ingersoll Burrata I had at L'unita? Would Fromagerie on College have any? My aunt lives in Ingersoll, so if I had an idea of which store or farm produced this I could arrange something... Maybe St Lawrence market?
Thanks.

Best Coffee in Toronto?

Manic on College near Bathurst.

Charcoutrie?

Driving along Dundas near Claremont I noticed Moltov closed and is now Charcoutrie. Anyone know what it's all about? Menu? Thanks. (did I even spell it right?)

Fun Wedding reception.. Toronto Harbour Cruise boat?

Sometimes art galleries will rent out their spaces (morrow ave. in TO has a bunch) and you can use your favourite caterer.

Alternatives to Pusateris

I have to say each time I go back to Fiesta Farms I find something new - good selection of ethnic specialities and reasonably priced too. Vosges (bacon flavoured) was $14 @ Whole Foods only $8 @ Fiesta. Lots of organic stuff too.

Red Fife Flour in Toronto?

just bought a big bag (3.3lbs) for $6.50 At Culinarium on Mt Pleasant.

Love Foxley - now where?

Hi, we went to George and had a fantastic meal. We ordered a bunch of apps and enjoyed some great wine. I love the range of wine Jimson (sommelier) has put together, and our lovely server was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Lorenzo Loseto is my favourite chef today.

Love Foxley - now where?

We have a babysitter tonight, so I'm almost out the door! But don't know where to go. We love foxley but we are there far too much. I'd like to eat lighter - maybe a bunch of apps. Torito is great, but... Alice is fantastic but we can always bring the kid there so we don't want to do that. I'm thinking about George, or Splendido, or JK wine bar - how tough is it to get in on a Friday night? What about Perrigree (sp?) in the distillary district? Is Nyood to slick? Sorry for such a convoluted question - I think I need a glass of wine. Thanks.

Betel Leaf

Thank You!

Betel Leaf

Anyone know where I can find Betel leaf? I'm thinking Spadina, maybe Gerrard. Is there another name for it?
Thanks

Monday night book club

Maybe I'm thinking of Il Sorriso.....

Monday night book club

Thanks for reminding me about Sorrito. Now that spring has sprung I hope for the return of the stuffed zucchini flowers!

Monday night book club

Any recommendations for a Monday night book club meeting for 10 - not too expensive cafe/bistroish - near ttc, quietish. We have been to Grano and Rice on Mt. Pleasant. I was thinking of Olivia's or Alice's on College but they are closed on Monday. Do you think Torito would be too loud? I've only been there on Weekends.

Thanks.

Visiting Toronto in August

I think Lorenzo is growing his own tomatoes @ George. If you are coming in August it would be a great time to enjoy real tomatoes.

Eating at a bar

We are in Chicago for 3 nights in mid-August. Will probably go to Alinea or Trotters one night. We would like to try as many different restaurant/bistros/cafes for the rest of the time. Ideally sitting at a bar, with a great glass of wine, and a few tasty appetizers, and moving on to the next place to repeat. If anyone is familiar with Toronto (where we're from) I'd like something similar to these places:

JK's wine bar
Niagara Street Cafe
Rosebud
Cava
Coca
Crush
Jump
Canoe
Noce
Thuet

Thank You!
