Relaxing weekend with food by a pond? Suggestions for accommodations near good food? [moved from Greater Boston Bd]
You can make a picnic with items from Sofra and head to Walden Pond, Crane's or Wingershaek Beach.
Belmont/Watertown lunch
If you go to Strip T's on the later side, you should be ok. I arrived around 1:30 today and the rush was definitely over. Food was delicious (no crab, in case Opinionated Chef is wondering) Service was very solicitous and friendly, and it would have been easy to linger.
Sunday Lunch in Watertown
Victor's is great for breakfasts, but short on ambience. I'd go with one of the other restaurants mentioned.
Are my picks okay?
For Southern (inspired), consider Hungry Mother and Tupelo, both in Cambridge. I've never had a problem with the sound levels at Neptune. You would be fine for dinner there.
Who makes the best oatmeal?
Haven't been to Johnny D's in a while, but I've always been happy with their brunches. Oatmeal is delicious -- comes with cream, raisins and brown sugar, IIRC, and you add what you like. Brunch offerings are well executed.
Great Sushi Chef Documentary Coming to Kendall
Saw a preview for the film at the Coolidge Corner Theater last weekend. Nothing on their website yet in terms of dates.
Chocolate Covered Almonds
Formaggio Kitchen may have something that fits the bill. Saw them in the case at the South End store this week. Didn't pay close attention so you may want to call.

Ginga in Brookline has been replaced by either Sushi U or U Sushi.

Cheap groceries? Moving to Brookline area,,..from out of state
In addition to putting in a plug for Russo's and the local farmer's market, I'd also checking out Cyndi, who sells great fresh fish at the farmer's market during the summer and fall and then goes indoors and sells out of When Pigs Fly bakery during the winter months.
Best of Brookline - 2011 Edition
Lots of good spots mentioned. I'll add Pino's for pizza (in Cleveland Circle) and Ginga for sushi.
New years eve dinner to wow my girlfriend
Avoid Top of the Hub. View is nice, food is not.
Where to find whole nutmeg?
Christina's in Inman Square has it. I'm pretty sure Formaggio Kitchen does as well.
ISO plum jam; also, apricot jam prefs?
I use Trader Joe's apricot preserves for baking. I give them a whir in the Cuisinart to get them to the right consistency and they're good to go. Nice and tart.
Recommendations Please! Takeout Stuffing
You've got your search narrowed down, but for anyone else looking, Russo's had four types of stuffing today.
Recommendations Please! Takeout Stuffing
I would bet that you could find good stuffing at Russo's.
NORTH END: Chances of getting into Neptune Oyster or Daily Catch?
Not sure if you'll be able to walk in, but at 6:30, there shouldn't be a long wait. The early crowd is finishing and tables will be turning. Last time I went (for lunch), they said it would be 40 minutes and they called within 5 minutes.
Best French Dip?
If you're not married to the classic, there's the Beef on Weck at All Star Sandwich Bar. Rings in at under $10.

I love reading your reviews. Hope you come back soon to try more of what the city has to offer.
Best Tuna Tartare?
I make it myself, using Ina Garten's recipe. The original recipe (which you can find online) feeds 50, but you can scale it way down. I often use less than a pound of tuna and it makes enough to feed four as an appetizer. It's incredibly easy and a hit every time.
