My favorite Vietnamese Restaurant

Have you tried Huynh on St. Emanuel? Great food in pleasant surroundings and a true family operation. Better than Mai's and Van Loc in my humble estimation. Need to try the Corpus place--sounds great!

Houston Sushi

Kubo's and Kata Robata are our standard go to places for proximity and quality, with treks to Soma for something different. I have resisted Blue Fish House because the parking indeed is ridiculous. Our bargain place is Crave Sushi on Travis in Midtown, where we can eat more for less during their happy hour, which is 7 days a week until 7 and 9 on on Sunday. Based on the other comments, we need to head west to Sushi Jin.

Hottest restaurant right now?

I concur with twyst's comments. Reef was new and special about about 5 years ago and still offers good food and value in a nice setting but not the buzz you're looking for--it's oh so yesterday in that context.

Hottest restaurant right now?

A new place with sigificant buzz is Philippe Restaurant + Lounge on Post Oak in the Galleria area--also great food and wine selection. A longer trek and more adventursome but worth the trek would be Bootsie's in Tomball.

Where should I eat in the George Bush Airport/Houston Area?

One suugestion is Chez Nous, which is quite near the airport, in Humble. A quaint converted home serving what I thought was great classic French food, which my brother and I both ennjoyed when we ate there several years ago and he also was staying at the airport.

That would me much appreciated.

I hate to take a detour, but have you found a place in Houston with good breakfast tacos using machaca? Just got back from some great ones at Taco Taco in San Antonio and crave some local ones in Houston. Any help would be appreciated! As a ceviche lover, I'm sure we'll be off to Ostioneria Mar Azul as well. On that front, I would add El Rey downtown and on Washington for take out or eat in, although I'm not sure how late they stay open--too old.
