Banh mi in Wmsburg?
Nam Nam should be added to the list - it's okay. The bahn mi isn't bad.

New + Wonderful Taco Truck in Williamsburg
Endless Summer definitely is a lot better - I think their tacos are good - and their soups have been good too - I really liked a spicy chicken soup they had a few weeks back.

Fatty 'Cue - anyone been?
Nice review Silverjay - I had a similar experience to yours.
I think Wagyu refers to a certain breed of beef - so I assume it means American raised wagyu cattle.

Fatty 'Cue - anyone been?
So I checked it out tonite - it's a little like Fatty Crab - interesting and innovative, but not quite mindblowing.
Had eggplant dish - interesting but kind of weird - chicharron, green mango, pickled garlic and a variety of things to dip with accompany a pureed eggplant dish that tasted a little like lobster tamale. Sounds cool, but didn't quite work for me.
Next had special lamb in celebration of Easter - was very salty and overspiced - almost too spicy to eat, and a little too over the top like sometimes I think Fatty Crab can be - but the fatty parts were amazing. Bacon on steroids.
Finally was the brisket dish - this was the best of the bunch. Vaguely reminiscent of pork buns at Momofuku, this dish was great - chinese bao, aioli, spicy paste, cilantro and pickled onions with brisket that wasn't over-salted - this is what I imagined the place would be like - an interesting blend of Asian and Texas BBQ.
All in all it came out to what I thought was a little pricey - just under $100 for 2 people (3 dishes and draft beers) - but it's an interesting addition to the neighborhood and worth checking out if you haven't yet.
M Shanghai Bistro: What does everyone else think?
I used to order there semi-regularly but stopped because it was so hit or miss and while it aspired to be slightly more than your average takeout place, most of the time you felt like why are you paying more for this? I've never had anything that was amazing there personally (as in worth coming from another borough good) - but maybe it's improved since I've last eaten there. For consistently ok takeout I've had better luck at Fortune Cookie.
Brooklyn Thai (that doesnt suck)
Amarin is the best of a bunch of bad options in Williamsburg but I'm not sure that qualifies it for good. It's the equivalent of chinese takeout.

New York Times says March 23.

Bierkraft Restaurant in Williamsburg?
There's a sign on a storefront on Driggs near North 10th which says Bierkraft restaurant - any one know more about this? Would be cool if they opened up a beer shop like the one in Park Slope even though it's not exactly cheap. Not sure what they know about the restaurant business though if that's what it is.
Any Good BBQ in Brooklyn?
I've only been to Dinosaur once, but the meal I had wasn't much better than Dallas BBQ. Hill Country and Blue Smoke have the best brisket - which is of course all that really matters.
Fette Sau in the summer has the best atmosphere for BBQ - outdoor picnic tables and beer. I think they're smoking of pork belly is inspired if some times too much.

Um - you realize it's December right? :)
Looks like "by March"

Korean food Brooklyn, NY
Head to Queens. I've never had an authentic Korean meal in Brooklyn unfortunately. I think there are a couple restaurants in Bayridge but I haven't tried them.
New + Wonderful Taco Truck in Williamsburg
I finally got around to trying Endless Summer and avoided it based on the reviews here - and was surprised that it was pretty tasty actually. The chorizo taco was really salty but I thought it was fine - and the beef burrito I had I also enjoyed. "Avoid at all costs" and "tourist trap" are all too harsh - at least based on my one experience, it wasn't that bad for a late night taco.
Mesa Coyoacan
I had another nice meal there - really liked the mixiote and the spicy pepper sauce it comes with and the mini tortillas. Still not crazy about the salsa but don't have many other complaints - glad to see it seems to be doing well.
Di Fara - What I've Learned from this Board
To be honest - I like the round, but you should have the square before making a final determination on whether you think it's overhyped. I didn't totally get it until I had the square.
Sochu, who has a good selection?
I like Bekseju a lot - it's a little sweeter than Soju, and has a hint of a gingseng flavor.
I did find the Shochu - thanks - although I went to Mitsuwa instead. I still haven't checked out Hudson Wine Market. I think I prefer the regular iichiko plain shochu, but it's still really interesting.
Di Fara - What I've Learned from this Board
Another vote for square - the thicker crust really holds everything together.
Where can I buy vintage cabot cheddar in Bklyn?
Looks like their website lists a number of stores that carry their products.

Banh mi in Wmsburg?
I've heard it's not as good as Nha Toi, but I haven't tried it yet. I want to try it though.
I had a duck bahn mi at Nha Toi tonight - it's an occasional special - and was really good. Really like it with the spicy peppers he gives you.
Mesa Coyoacan
There was a sign on the wall that said Brunch either was coming soon or maybe starting this weekend? So the answer is yes - just not sure if it's started yet.
Mesa Coyoacan
I went last night and really enjoyed it.
We had the guacamole (simple and good, not overwhelmed by other flavors like citrus, garlic, onion, tomato etc. The tostados I think were home made - not crazy about the salsa), chile en nogada (interesting flavors, the pepper was spicy but good), the Azteca soup (the broth picked up a lot of flavor form the chiles I think and was good), 3 glasses of sangria and the churros for dessert and it came to $60.
To be honest I wasn't totally blown away, but it's a solid addition to the neighborhood, and I do want to go back and try the mixiote and posole. I like the design of the place, although it's a little on the young/hip side for me when I think I'd rather something a little more homey to go with the food.

Best PIZZA in the USA
He may be distinguished, but any list that doesn't have DiFara's in the top 25 is a complete joke. (I was going to say top 1, but figured there are some here that aren't worshippers.)
GODFATHER style Italian restaurant
@Howster - Someone did mention Bamonte's earlier.
Fresh Soft Shell Crab Specials?
I had the same dish at Le Barricou - believe it or not I had never had soft shell crabs outside of various sushi and asian preparations - I enjoyed this meal a lot.
Maria's Mexican Bistro...
No - you're wrong. There were threads early in it's existence raving about the food not just melted cheese and guac. Whether they really cared about good Mexican food, I'll leave to you to divine. Maybe "Chowhound favorite" is exaggerating given the small sample size.
Sochu, who has a good selection?
Thanks for the tip! I'm going this afternoon as I will be near there. Have you tried much Korean alcohol like Bekseju? I wonder if they stock a lot of Korean spirits as I'm guessing it may be Korean owned?
Maria's Mexican Bistro...
Interesting reading all the harsh reviews - I thought this was a chowhound favorite and I never quite understood why.
The Williamsburg Burger Rankings
I haven't been to Jimmy's recently, but the first burger I tried with them was pretty small and not very exciting - maybe I should give it another chance. I like Dumont a lot better than Jimmy's.
It's funny - I'm always trying to think of a place to get a burger in Williamsburg - and don't think I've tried more than 2 on that list. I'm more of an eat out burger person and those aren't really delivery places are they?
What's the name of the place across from Lokai that sells $14 Australian style burgers? That was okay.
And you should go to South Africa instead.
Good Breakfast Tacos?
Arandas, Taco Express - what is everyone in this thread from Austin? :) Incidentally Taco Express wasn't as great the last time I went - and it's so busy that it's lost some of the charm for me. Mi Madres was my morning fix mainly because I lived close by.
I used to live a block from Lobos and never thought it was as gawdawful as some folks on chowhound seemed to think - and I agreed it was a passable Tex-Mex fix.
