Bob Evans' Store Bought Mash Potatoes Not that I recommend them at all, but in the grocery store I shop at, they are next to the fake barbecue in a plastic tub in the prepared meat section. |

Bob Evans' Store Bought Mash Potatoes My wife buys those things against my wishes. I don't care for them at all. There's a bitter taste somewhere in there. They don't taste like potatoes to me. She seems to like them. |

LA Hound Looking for Best BBQ in KC AB's can be hit or miss. When they're on, there's none better. I go to Bryant's for brisket, be it burnt ends or slices on a sandwich. LC's burnt ends are the standard all others are measured by. Truly wonderful. Their beans are great too. If you're in the South part of the KC suburbs, Brobeck's ribs are the best in KC. |

I knew it when I opened the thread. RIP. Prayers for Wayne and his family. |

Staying in Omaha , Day trip to Kansas City LC's for burnt ends. The best barbecue KC has to offer. Not too far from the K. |

NY Daily News - Butter Banned in NYC Schools I'm just curious, how many schools were using butter? I'm guessing not many as margarine is cheaper. |

We've been to Charleston a couple of times recently. Always a great time. For late night when Mrs CHM runs out of energy and curls up with a book, I head to Blind Tiger. Always a good band and relaxed atmosphere within walking distance of our hotel. |

Down to three BBQ sauces. Help me pick Not sure how to compare. I think when most people hear KC Style, they think KC Masterpiece. It's a terrible sauce which is way too sweet and is not representative of anything that is served in KC. A lot of joints have their own sauce, Gate's, Bryant's, LC's and OK Joe's. They're all very different from each other. They are tomato based, so that is one thing they have in common. There is an element of sweetness, but not the overpowering cloying sweet of KCM. Terrible stuff. |

Down to three BBQ sauces. Help me pick I think Maull's is made is St Louis. Definitely not a KC sauce. Best of the KC sauces are Bryant's or Gate's. Neither are particularly sweet. |

The new chain in town. Cheddar's. Info please. I don't care for it. Been there 3 times and the best thing I had was the hamburger. First trip I got the shepards pie. Wasn't a shepards pie, ground beef and peas in weak gravy over mashed potatoes. Second trip was a cajun pasta thing. Dry, overcooked, tiny shrimp, a few pieces of sausage in a flavorless "cajun" sauce with penne. Third trip, I played it safe and went with the burger. It was ok. My wife loves this place. I have no idea why. |

Do people ask you random questions… Do people ask you a lot of questions...? Sorry, couldn't help myself. |

Obviously fresh roasted are better, but green chile cheeseburgers. |

Hey, Bob. Long time no read. I can't imagine FD's burnt ends would be any better than their brisket. I'm not a fan. |

<---------------- Hates ketchup. |

I've only been to 5 guys a couple of times. Burger seemed pretty good. Nothing great and certainly not worth the price. The first time there I made the mistake of ordering a large fry. Just the spillage alone would have been enough. And they weren't good. Limp and greasy. For about the same amount of money, I like Smashbuger much better. |

what is happening to my steaks? I wonder if they are "enhancing" the beef with lots of salt water like they do with pork and chicken. |

I have been to Ruchi for lunch and enjoyed it. Sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds terrible. I'm an Indian food noob, but I liked Korma Sutra. Hopefully if you try that, it will be much better. |

I can't think of a veggie I don't like. Bring 'em on. |

Problems with Kroger meat department? Anyone else? The lean ground beef Mrs CHM buys at Kroger exudes a lot of.... errr, something. No idea what it is. At 95% lean it isn't fat. |

Bitchin' Kitchen - Are they kidding??? Yeah, I know this is a year old post. I hope she does not tone it down. I think the show is funny and I'll watch it if it's on. If I wanted to watch a mainstream hit, I'd watch Rachel Ray. |

I like Pine and Bamboo. A friend of mine talked the owner into doing a multi course, off menu feast for about 20. Lots of duck, beef shank, fish maw soup, jellyfish salad. None of it on their menu. They have a nice dim sum service on the weekends. I'm not sure you're going to find what you are looking for in KC, but give them a try. Nice people and the food really is good. If it's still there, check out Jen Jen as well. |

Coming up with new names for milk products didn't work out very well. I still buy 2% and not whatever it was that was on the new label. I'm thinking this follows the same path. |

Is the City Diner still around in the City Market area? Great breakfasts. Out in Olathe there is Mom's and Old 56 Family Restaurant. Both are excellent dives. |

Frozen shredded hash browns. I love those things. Edamame |

I'm 51 years old. My wooden cutting board is older than I am. I cut everything on it from chicken to fish to vegetables. I'm careful to clean it between meats and veggies. It's never caused a problem. |

French fry confit. |

Jeremy reminds me of Gomer Pyle from Full Metal Jacket. Either that, or he needs a hockey mask. |

Best barbeque sauce out of a bottle? I don't care for the stuff, way too sweet for me. But when I started doing competitions way back in the 90's, the old school guys would use doctored up Kraft for their barbecue. Both Kraft and competitors have changed a lot since then. |

Foods to avoid if your going out drinking ? I'd lay off the balut. |
