Best food truck in Austin?

That list is not close to up to date or correct [IMHO]. Some of those trucks don't exist any more, some have changed names, etc. If you want to check out the trailer scene in Austin there are a couple websites devoted specifically to that. Also check out the Austin Food Bloggers City Guide for 2012 which has several pieces on trailers written by the experts. Shorty's is okay for burgers but there are much better in Austin.

Bahn Mi in South Austin?

i don't think they are closed, i got an email from the owner a few days ago asking me to add it to my website.

Trader Joe's Coming - Seaholm

Wholeheartedly agree. Like any store there are some items that I like and some I don't. They have the best non-dairy chocolate chips around and the best price on dried cherries which i love. I don't compare them with Whole Foods [ which I almost never shop at] since to me the stores are radically different.

Food trailers willing to cater and travel out of town?

Many/most of the food trailers in town do catering and most will go out of town. It all comes down to $$ and if you are willing to pay the travel and food costs. Peached Tortilla, Chi'Lantro, Bola Pizza, Coreanos, Evil Weiner are a few off the top of my head that are options

suggestions please! : job interview/ lunch

in there area there are several places depending on $$. NXNW, Manuels, and Z-Tejas are right around that intersection (as is Roaring Fork which was mentioned). Further South you have Maudie's and 11 plates along with 360 Uno at the 360 & Westlake intersection. Across the street you have Trento. Any of these will work and are appropriate for an interview lunch.

New Hot Pot Place on Anderson

I had lunch there today. Decided to hit the noodles first then come back for hot pot. I ordered the twice spiced chicken which was marked as spicy (not the hotest designation) on buckwheat noodles. I thoroughly enjoyed the noodles, great texture, great bite. The chicken dish had very little flavor and i remarked "they gringo'd it" since it had little spice. I tried adding the hot oil that was on the table, then added again, then again, turns out even the hot oil is not hot. Added some soy, that almost got me to some flavor. Pretty disappointing dish. My partner in crime ordered the vegetarian item on the stir fry, he had the same problem and tried the same remedies. Great noodle, little flavor. I'm going to give them the benefit of day 2 so i do plan to go back and at least try the hot pot....

Taco truck catering?

most any mobile truck will be willing to cater your event if the timing and money are right. Chi'lantro, Peached Tortilla, Coreanas, One Taco will all be willing. You can also do Evil Weiner who is great, another option is Bolla Pizza which will bring a pizza oven on a trailer to you and do the pizzas. Asian wise i can think of Me So Hungry that does catering. Another one that come to mind is Seedling Truck by Royal Fig. There are lots of choices depending on type of food you want.

Downtown business dinner near the Driskill

I like Parkide on 6th, other suggestions are 2nd + Kitchen, Manuels, La Traviata on Congress or or even Trio at the Four Seasons from there. Lot's of options

Mail order bbq?

i just had Snow's ship some BBQ for Thanksgiving. The came frozen with instructions how to thaw. Turned our very well (for shipped BBQ).

Groupon Restaurants to Avoid

Absolutely! I had a horrible experience at Jeffries. They have a small menu to begin with and we had 8:30 reservations. They were out of most of the entrees and 2 of the bottles of wine I ordered. We literally had almost nothing we wanted to order and it was near the end of the Groupon (that they blamed). They ended up comping our wine and giving each person at the table a $25 gift certificate. Truthfully I still don't understand how they managed to plan so poorly, they knew how many reservations they had. Needless to say we cost them a lot and none of us has returned.

Birthday dinner....nicer restaurant?

I have been to both recently and can recommend them both strongly. Parkside is a little louder, Wink the tables are a little more cramped. You won't go wrong food wise with either. BTW there is valet parking at Parkside for like $8 or a few blocks away for $5 if you are worried about parking. Another thought could be Congress which may be the best meal in Austin right now.

christmas in austin - food trucks open??

unless they are on vacation most of them will be open. Truthfully i doubt many of them will know yet unless they have scheduled their vacation this far in advance.

ACL Weekend - help appreciated

The Austin Food Bloggers Alliance puts together a city guide every year for SXSW. It has great information on all types of food in Austin.

Searching Austin's best reuben sandwich

Just because it is made of a potentially kosher meat (beef from the front half of the animal) does not make it kosher. The kosher designation has a number or rules behind it including the animal being killed in a specific way and the certification of it's production under the observance of a rabbi.

Austin - Fine(r) Dining in November

I haven't done Congress yet (have done 2nd + Kitchen a number of times and really like it). My last couple meals at Olivia have been really disappointing and it's now off my list. Wink should be on and add Parkside, Barley Swine, Uchi/Uchiko to the list. I personally would do Barley Swine or Uchi/Uchiko. Take a look and see which food looks the best to you.

Food trailer advice, please

Do you have a particular section of town you are interested in? I suggest for lunch you check Chi'lantro, Peached Torilla, Evil Weiner which you can track from their websites for that days location. Others to check out are Flying Carpet, Lulu B's, and The Grackle which are all open for lunch

Anyone tried Hank's Garage?

I did a quick stop by last week around happy hour time and the place was empty. That being said, they have a nice beer selection. I was having thouths about having a St. Bernardus Abt12 on tap but it was $15 which was quite steep...unitl i saw the pour, which was close to a full pint. Nice. I did have the duck fat fries, which were excellent. They give you the choice of a couple dipping sauses which i liked, i had the Dijonaise and the smoked paprika. Both were good, but i am kind of a potato purist so ate most of the fry's without. Since that was my only food/drink i can't speak for the rest of the menu. Worth a sitter? Depends on your love of all things fries but i like the atmosphere and those i know who have eaten there enjoyed it http://hanksgarageatx.com/

I think Local Yolk is still there, Cafe Racer has been closed for a while. I have had the regular tacos at Pueblo which are good but not great. Never had the breakfast ones there.
