New downtown bakery - Creme de la crumb on Granville
Just tried their vanilla pear scone, flecked with beautiful specs of vanilla bean. Fluffy and delicious and warm from the oven. At $2.75 it is more than my local bakery or Starbucks but IMO so very worth it for the quality ingredients. I don't think I've actually had baking anywhere that uses real vanilla bean instead of extract (sadly). I love that they're open really early, so even at 7:15 I can pick something up before work.
Vegas and gourmet chocolate?
I think you'll have to give us a review onf that chocolate bar alone. I certainly would like to hear what you thought (before trying it myself!).
Vegas and gourmet chocolate?
Oh, I think I' ove the Naga -- sounds wonderful. I'm not too sure about their new "Bacon" chocoate bar... maybe that is one of that you'd consider "unusual on paper". :)
Midnight VEGAS dining options near the Wynn?
Noodes Asia and the Grand Lux will both be open nice and late, so I think I'll head to the Venetian. Which one would you choose?
Vegas and gourmet chocolate?
Wow... fantastic combinations -- I can't wait to try some. At those prices I better add it into my 'dining' budget. :)
As for the bar chocoates, those look great to bring home too, any recommendations?
Prix Fixe at the Wynn Las Vegas restaurants?
Yes, I do deserve a break... thank you! I would probably be quite disappointed if I saw the menu that night and there was something amazing on it that wasn't part of the prix fixe. This is (amazingly) a first trip to Vegas, and it's just all a little overwhelming trying to make a few decisions on meals (and hotels!) as there are so many great choices.
Vegas and gourmet chocolate?
Where would you go to pick up amazing individual chocolates, or even imported bar chocolate that is beyond the ordinary? I'm thinking of amazing taste combinations, pure artistry -- is that too much to ask? I'm guessing that one of the hotels on the strip may have something like that, but don't know Vegas -- please help!
Cheers and thanks a million.
Midnight VEGAS dining options near the Wynn?
I get in on a Sunday night, so the places usually open until 2 on weekends won't work for me. If I checked in, then headed out again, do you have any recommendations on the best of the 24 hour hotel cafes?
Will the restaurants that close at midnight let you in right up until midnight, or do they stop letting in diners much earlier? I noticed that Noodles at the Bellagio is open until 2am, aside from my former comment of not wanting any Asian food, is it an option that you'd consider? I'll take a note of Social House too. I'd rather eat good Asian food than mediocre American food. :)
Thanks.
Midnight VEGAS dining options near the Wynn?
Athough midnight is not late by Vegas standards, what can I expect to be open for dinner near (or at) the Wynn? My flight doesn't get in until 10 the first night, but I don't want to miss out on even one precious meal during my short stay.
I'll entertain eating anything with the exception various Asian foods (which are aready fantastic and cheap at home). Any price range or decor is fine -- this is a first trip to Vegas, so I'd like to kick off my first dining experience there with a bang and not have to take a trip to the other end of the strip to get it.
Thanks everyone!
Prix Fixe at the Wynn Las Vegas restaurants?
I don't think they will have the menu ready for me to choose which restaurant this far out. I can't help but think that $76.50 isn't really a deal for the choices they would give you, and for perhaps just a little more I could make selections from the whole menu.
I think you've helped me answer my own question -- it depends what they are serving, so keep my options open until I see a menu (which might mean I forgoe the prix fixe).
As for atmosphere and service, is there a distinct difference that you could describe to me?
Does either restaurant have a signature dish that is a do-not-miss?
Thanks again!
Prix Fixe at the Wynn Las Vegas restaurants?
We'll be staying at the Wynn in a few weeks and are about to buy tickets to Spamalot.
The Wynn is running a promotion for tickets and a meal, that basically adds $76.50 per person for a prix fixe meal at one of seven of their restaurants (no, not Alex).
After going through the menus and some of the advice by Chowhounders, my initial impression is that if I do this at all, I should choose from Bartolotta or Tableau.
Do you think $76.50 actually a 'deal' for prix fixe at these restaurants, or could I walk off the street and have this as an option without pre-booking with the package? Would $76.50 be better spent ordering a la carte at any of their restaurants?
Which restaurant (aside from Alex) would you choose if you wanted to eat before the show?
All advice is greatly appreciated -- Chowhounders never let me down!
