Clam Digger in Bristol

Darn..I have been wanting to try Clam Digger! *foiled again*

Glastonbury,CT- the "Burger Capitol of America?"

Thanks for the Apricot's mention, I always thought they had one of the best burgers in the area! Especially eaten outside. I am a big fan of the burger at Joe Pizza too.

Meat House

I go to the one in Avon, it's a convenient stop for me on the way home. I agree with Tinkerbelldee, steak and turkey tips are good. Meats are o.k. They are over the top friendly, but I have no complaints about that. I think their strong suit is the selection of local products. (cheeses, salsas, ice cream, to name a few). Having said that, I don't understand why they carry Stonewall Kitchen (the store is right across the street), and would prefer they use that shelf space for more local jams/sauces, etc.

best corned beef to buy?

Was at Whole Foods today and wondered the same thing!

Pizza Dough - Farmington/Avon/Simsbury

Thanks!

Pizza Dough - Farmington/Avon/Simsbury

Yes, I know the Farmington Valley is packed to the gills with pizza places (and more to come!); but does anyone know which ones sell their dough? Time to improve the homemade version!

Thanks!

fish and chips

I like the fish and chips at Farm in Avon:

Need prinskorv for Christmas in Central CT

We get regular Korv every year at Highland Park Market, not sure if they carry the prinskorv. Might be worth a phone call!

Colchester, CT - a culinary wasteland?

I hope your move went well, it's a great place to live. I do agree with you about the lack of variety, having grown up in Colchester with all those pizza places!

Thai or sushi/hibachi would be a great addition to town, and perhaps a family restaurant (featuring steak, burgers, seafood, etc.). Also, don't forget to try Harry's!

Bagelz, Glastonbury CT Closed

I haven't been there in a few years, but it's sad to see those places close.

Know where can I find frozen hominy in CT?

I get the canned posole at Whole Foods, but I wonder if Trader Joe's might have it frozen?

Avon, CT - Breakfast Black Hole?

No, The Bosc space is reopening as a bar and grill soon

The deli is across the parking lot, I had lunch there one day. Great outdoor seating, nice owner, food o.k. Will definitely try it for breakfast!

Avon, CT - Breakfast Black Hole?

We like Village Cafe and Bistro in Canton, near the post office. Had delicious lamb hash this morning, also recommend the sweet potato home fries and the Eggs Canton. They serve fresh orange juice, good coffee and it has a nice neighborhood feel.

Fresh air in Farmington valley [Avon Indian Grill on Rte 44]

I eat lunch there often, love the buffet. It's a great way to try out new dishes (the okra is one of my favorites). At dinner, they are helpful with suggestions; I like the new decor too.

Which place are you referring to?

Chef's Equipment Emporium is comin' to the Pike (Berlin, CT)!

Excellent!! Can't wait for that!

Saybrook Soup & Sandwich Co.

Thanks for the post, looking forward to trying the Harney Iced Tea! And I love a good chicken salad sandwich.

Restaurant Closings Avon/Simsbury/Canton

Check it out if you like BBQ, in my opinion, he makes the best brisket around!

Restaurant Closings Avon/Simsbury/Canton

Agreed, I would rather spend my money in local restaurants than patronize the chains on 44. Ferme, Husk, Feng, LIttle City Pizza, Flaggstead, to name a few favorites.

Astounding Yogurt from Simmons Family Farm (Farmington, CT)

this post is older, but just an update...I've been buying this yogurt at Bristol's farm in Canton.

Vecchitto's truck is back in business!

Most of the customers were Vecchitto's regulars; we thanked the driver profusely for bringing the truck back :-)

Vecchitto's truck is back in business!

Was in Old Saybrook for the weekend, and the Vecchitto's truck came by! I don't know the regular route; what I do know is I had three ices (watermelon - twice & lemon/lime) and all was right with the world.

Blue Sky, New Hartford: one perfect dish

Thanks, it does look like a fun place to try!

Blue Sky, New Hartford: one perfect dish

I always drive by Blue Sky with the intention of stopping in! (especially with that sign out front advertising "BELLIES"...LOL) What else did you try? Curry lime dipping sauce sounds really tasty!

Downtown Hartford Pre-Theater?

I would not classify Hartford as a foodie wasteland. We often bypass WH Center in favor of Firebox, one of the finest restaurants in the area. Bin 228 is also a great choice for pre-theater. Enjoy the show!

Need a new Special Occasion Dinner spot- Farmington Valley/ Hartford area

I am a big fan of Fleming's in West Hartford, yeah they're a steakhouse but the wine list is outstanding and the service is wonderful, especially if you celebrating a special occasion.

A friend of mine dined at the Federal recently and raved about it!

Options for Lunch/Brunch in Middletown this Sunday - with kids

New England Emporium

Where is Faddy's Donuts?

Excellent! Can't wait to try them!

Chef's Dog House, Newington, CT-----good stuff

We ate there a few weeks ago; tried the dogs, burgers and onion rings, and enjoyed all of it. I loved the onion rings, some of best I've had in recent memory! Glad to have Chef's in the area to satisfy the hot dog fix!

Any good donuts in the Hartford, CT area?

I drove by a couple weeks ago and was hoping they would be open! WE WANT DONUTS!
