Dinner in South Hadley?

Let me rephrase that........"as close to fine dining as you can find in South Hadley."

Dinner in South Hadley?

We love Thai Place, on Granby Road in South Hadley. The duck choo chee is phenomenal. The strangely named Lover's Scampi is another winner. Try the Thai tea, delicate and sweet without the need of sugar.

Food 101 Bistro in the Village Commons, across from Mount Holyoke College is the spot for more upscale dining.

Sturbridge

It's anything but fine dining, but BT's Smokehouse, across from the entrance to Old Sturbridge Village has some pretty good barbeque. Try the smoked wings in four flavors. Prices are very reasonable for the type of restaurant where many such spots want to charge extra for the novelty. BT's is on the side of the building next to a convenience store.

I need a little help from my springfield area friends

You're ignoring the wonderful Big Mamou in downtown Springfield. Chef Wayne Hooker turns out a mean Cajun menu at his Liberty Street digs and his newest eatery in Williamsburg.

Ginger Blossom on Parker Street in Springfield doesn't disappoint with some very tasty Chinese food.

Not far away is the Federal in Agawam, and although I have yet to dine there, I've heard nothing but the most positive reviews of that fine dining restaurant.

Full Moon Asian Thai - White Plains

I just had lunch at Full Moon during a business trip to White Plains, and the special was Pad Thai. It's also on the menu. I opted for the Panang Red Curry which was excellent along with a hot cup of Thai red tea. I was surprised to be the only patron at noon in the restaurant, which is beautifully decorated inside. It wasn't till 12:30 that the next party came in. The waiter explained that the've only been open 3 months, and they have yet to establish a lunchtime clientele.

I'd have to say that Full Moon should be packed for lunch, which was very affordable. High marks for a very enjoyable meal.

Best Fried Clams in NH?

Woodman's of Essex Ma, the reputed inventor of the fried clam, opened a New Hampshire location in Litchfield. It's at 454 Charles Bancroft Highway at Mel's Funway Park on Route 3A. They're closed for the season, but will reopen in the spring.

And while it's not in New Hampshire per se, Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, just over the bridge from Portsmouth, comes close to qualifying. Lots of folks also love Petey's in Rye, and Brown's in Seabrook, both along the New Hampshire seacoast.

Northampton -- What not to miss?

Agree that Zen does a good job. I'd also suggest that Thai Place in South Hadley, just a short drive from Northampton on route 202 does some amazing dishes. Love the Duck Choo Chee! It's very affordable, and better IMHO than Siam Square or Thai Garden in Northampton.

My wife and I also had a great meal at Caminito, the Argentinean steakhouse on Old South Street in Noho.

Greenfield, Ma lunch Monday

So where did you end up eating?

Roberto's Ogunquit terrible

So you're not saying the food is bad, just that you don't think it's worth the time invested in getting it to your table?

Isn't the point of going there to enjoy the food? A little patience and perhaps the waitresses wouldn't be so surly.

If you want quick service, go to a fast food eatery.

Lunch near Portsmouth NH

We've always enjoyed the Blue Mermaid on the Hill, behind the Hilton Garden Inn in Portsmouth. Tasty and inventive fare, and the prices are very reasonable. They do a great plantain-encrusted cod with sweet potato hash and grilled banana.

If you prefer barbecue, try Muddy River Smokehouse on Congress Street.

Greenfield, Ma lunch Monday

I know that Thai Blue Ginger is open Monday. They're at 298 Main Street in Greenfield. We had a great meal there. Thai food is very flavorful and satisfying. Might that fit the bill?

As for Turners Falls, I've heard good things about Ristorante Di Paolo at 166 Avenue A.

Is O'Rourke's in Middletown, CT worth it?

Don't let the "diner" designation fool you. The prices exceed that category, with breakfast meals around ten bucks. I stopped in for lunch, and tried the $3.50 steamed cheeseburger and a cup of soup. Ted's in Meriden has a better steamed cheeseburger, but it's 75 cents more (but worth the extra change.) The cup of barley soup was a good deal at 3 bucks, but needed some salt and pepper. Brian was there chatting with the customers. Bottom line, it's pricey for what it is.....but you may be more impressed with the pricier options than I was for a 7 buck lunch.

Also, note the lack of parking anywhere near the building.

Best Donuts in MA

Anyplace BUT Dunkin Donuts, IMHO.

Try Mrs Murphy's Donuts on Routes 10 & 202 in Southwick, Mass. They've been written up in Yankee Magazine as one of the best in New England.

Sorry to say, but Montreal French Fries has just closed up shop. No more poutine!
