Peanut Butter–Honey Banana Bread

Only had a bit of creamy peanut butter, so I used half peanut butter and half nutella and threw in some chopped hazelnuts I had on hand. Very nice, moist outcome, just a little chocolatey so hubby wants more nutella next time :)

Peach Melba Cooler

Tried it as per recipe but with the addition of vodka, and I would agree with filmboomer - not bad, but not really that exciting.

Lamb that does not smell...like lamb?

I don't find lamb appealing either - except when my husband makes it this way:

I bet your wife will enjoy it. The leftovers become more strongly "lamb flavoured", but this is a good way to get her started!

Double Chocolate Fudgy Ice Cream Sandwiches

Made these with some variations for my son's birthday party. Added a cup of oatmeal and deleted the nuts, and used Werther's candies for the toffee. Used store bought neopolitan ice cream and it was a good combination. I liked the chew of the toffee but it made it a little harder to cut the cookies into shapes (I used ice cream sandwich "molds" which are like cookie cutters). Overall very good!

Chocolate Ganache Tart

People love this. I have made it twice. The crust is a little hard, in my opinion, but no one seemed to mind. I made it with frozen raspberries rather than cherries (easier to find), and strained them after cooking. The recipe should be revised, however - there is no need to preheat the oven when you're starting out because you have to first chill the tart shell for half an hour! Also, if you're trying to minimize your time to completion, you are probably best to start with the sauce before making the filling, given that it simmers for a long time and then has to cool. I also found that the filling did not melt completely with this method (did not get smooth), so if you want it really smooth you have to make sure the butter and chocolate are in very small pieces and not colder than room temperature. Second time I made it I made sure the butter was at room temp and I used a food processor to chop up the chocolate.

Miso-Ginger Glazed Salmon

This was great. My only suggestion would be to warm up the strained sauce. It was great poured over some basmati rice with black sesame seeds!

But aren't most schools now nut-free? My kids' school is also sesame free... so no hummus with tahini allowed.

Best freezer-ready meal to give to a new mom?

Yes I remember always being hungry too! Keeping half of everything for my own family, I have decided on: banana blueberry muffins (baking right now), rice-topped shepherd's pie, meatballs, roasted veg, fruit salad, and an apple crisp. Oh and a few goat cheese & roasted red pepper tarts and a few asparagus cheese rolls that I made to have on hand. Thanks everyone!

Superpower Energy Bars for School Days and Work Days

These look good but our schools no longer allow nuts or nut products in packed lunches/snacks - anyone have a good recipe for a granola bar with no nuts (and preferably some chocolate) that my kids will eat?

Zucchini Carpaccio with Feta and Pine Nuts

Wow, I was a bit skeptical at first, but the flavours are great - you get lots of complexity in addition to the freshness. I ate a whole pie plate of it for dinner, and didn't get sick of it!!

Toasted Pound Cake with Coffee Sauce

Made this for guests, late Sunday morning stand-around and chat kind of visit. Overall, went over pretty well. Served with a cheese ball / crackers, and fruit platter.

Couple of cautions: Don't look away for a minute while broiling the cake - it can go from raw to burnt very quickly. And the coffee sauce is a bit finicky too - I poured the hot ingredients into the cold (probably should have done the reverse), and got a glumpy mess that would not whisk together. I was able to save it by microwaving it for a minute or two.
