Cast Iron with Non-Stick Coating?
I recently bought an Ikea Senior 6 qt Casserole Dutch Oven, and within no time scratched the interior. It did not chip away like enamel would, but instead behaved like non-stick coating on a frying pan. I'm finding conflicting reports on whether or not the interior of the Senior comes enameled - some say it's straight-up cast iron, others say it's actually deceptively black enamel.
My question is: Does cast iron ever come with a thin, non-stick-like coating instead of enamel? Or did I scratch away pre-seasoning?
I scrubbed off the rest of the coating with steel wool (figuring I'd rather have cast iron than scraped non-stick) and now don't quite know how to treat the dutch oven - it feels a little too smooth to be cast iron, but I'm not sure, and don't know whether or not I can cook acidic food in it. Any advice would be appreciated.
