Simplex Tea Kettle Whistle

I hope that you see this reply. I, too, have one of these kettles and I noticed that if the top was not firmly seated it would not whistle. Did you ever resolve your issue?

Feeding a new diabetic?

I am not a diabetic, I just want to address the question about adding vegetables to someone's daily diet. My choice to become a vegetarian was hindered by my dislike of many veggies and I realized I was not get enough veggies into my diet. I finally figured out that I do not like cooked veggies, I prefer most of them raw. I would rather eat a salad with a variety of added vegetables. This especially applies to broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cabbage, spinach, even peas. Perhaps your husband would prefer his vegetables in a salad. My husband and I have recently discovered the pleasure of a daily fruit and veggie smoothie, please check with his doctor about having a smoothie, it may be to much sugar. Our favorite smoothie is 2 cups almond milk, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup frozen strawberries, and two handfuls of baby spinach. Sometimes we use finely chopped red cabbage instead of the spinach. That makes two tall glasses.

Wi-fi downtown [Reno]

The library has free wifi but no food. The museum on Liberty also has free wifi and a small cafe.

Ciao Restaurant Reno

According to the RGJ they did close, and will reopen possibly in late April with a new name, Bite. The article was in the Blogs.

Tonopah? is there a decent place to eat there?

Thanks for the responses, I just may pack a lunch too. I should be able to find something in Vegas for the trip back.

Reno new coffee shop-tahoe roasting co

Thanks for the report. I saw this mentioned in the RGJ a week or so ago. I was surprised that they get their coffee roasted in Spokane, I know that there are several coffee roasters in the Reno area that would have loved to have gotten the business and kept it local. However a good bowl of soup is always a draw for me, so I may check it out someday for lunch.

Tonopah? is there a decent place to eat there?

I will be driving from Reno to Las Vegas this Friday, and back on Monday, Tonopah seems to be the logical place to stop for lunch. Suggestions welcome for a suggestion for a decent restaurant/diner. I did see that the Death Valley Nut Co may be a good place to stop for dessert...

Best of Reno 2007 votes

Thanks to this board, I have been going to Taste of India, so I was pleased to see their #1 ranking. ITA that the Italian rankings were just so wrong, as well as the Mexican. Even the national chains were not the best of the best, although I admit to the fact that I have never eaten at an Outback. I do like Changs, but don't consider it a Chinese retaurant. But Olive Garden? (shudder) Carinos was disappointing, we did like Cortina (also at the Summit).

There are still so many places that we have not been to in Reno, once we find a few that we like we tend to go back there, like Rosita's for lunch or dinner, or Legends for breakfast as Bill listed. For comfort foods, we like Austins.

Can I ask this learned group, where is the best place for sandwiches? Never been to Port of Subs. Any recommendations for bakeries?
