Rooftop/garden space in EV/LES?
Getting itchy to enjoy some outdoor happy hour drinking. Anyone know any nicer outdoor spaces in East Vill. or LES. I can only think of a few - Lunasa, Bull mccabe, DBA - was looking for something a little nicer maybe? Any of the new hotels down on the LES maybe?
Where to watch soccer (Premier League football) on Sunday?
I think Nevada's is closed now. but the guys just opened a new a place called Smithfield on 28th near 7th. Was just there last night. Nice looking place. Good food. Definitely will have the game.

Nashville area for 3 days - what are the absolute best restaurants for a 1st time visitor?
I'm from NYC as well, but go to Nashville about 3 times a year to visit friends. The places you shouldn't miss are Loveless. I've actually booked a flight just to go there. (bit of a drive, but best fried chicken and biscuits you'll ever have), Monell's (family style, go hungry), Watermark, and Prince's hot chicken (i've looked around and you can't find anything like that up here.)
Watermark would be good to go after the airport. It's a high end place, but not over the top. Nothing in Nashville is. (Especially when it comes to $, you'll be surprised.) If it's a week night you could probably sit at the bar at 10:30. Plus if I remember right, it's in the Gulch, kind of a cool neighborhood.
There really is no BBQ in Nashville. Been to Jack's a few times, it's OK. Martin's sounds like it's better, haven't tried it yet. If you've got the time, Memphis is 2 hrs away, but that's a different conversation.
City House, Miel, Margot, Park Cafe are all good, for the nicer type restaurants, been to all but I think Watermark seems a little more southern.
Arnold's is great too for the meat and three, but you really have to plan ahead. Can't tell you how many times I've gone and it's been closed. Never got the hours down in my head.

tpoutine - the real deal or poser?
The place is definitely good. The one with the chicken is the best one. The fries hold up to the gravy. The meat is tender. The deep fried curds are good. Crispy on the outside gooey on the inside. Of course it's fast food, but it's not crappy.
Don't remember if it was exactly like the the one i had in Montreal, as it was ten years ago. But the girls who were working here when the place opened were french canadian.
mexican restaurant
For something a little different - Itzocan Cafe in east village. Really really tiny. Ate there a while ago. I remember it as kinda homestyle mexican (casseroles and stews). But really good food.

Please tell me about Pret a Manger for lunch
It's just a premade sandwich shop like everyone said, of which there are dozens along 6th Ave there where radio city is. But, it's the best one of the bunch. Never get soggy bread there. The other places make the sandwiches way too far in advance.
Skate Wing
Only remember seeing skate on the menus within last 10 years or so. I, personally, think of it the same way as monkfish. The only reason they're on menus at all is because there's no other fish left. It seems like it's difficult to cook well and only chefs who know what they're doing even try it. Didn't know about sustainability issue.
Under the Radar - East Village Recs
Lived in EV for 8 yrs. These are my faves in no order (at least ones that shouldn't be too bad on Fri/Sat nite): Tree - good value, Brick Lane - probably the best spot on curry row, Minca on 5th, Lavagna across from Minca, - eaten there about 20 times but can only vouch for the rigatoni w/fennel, sausage & peas, amazing!, Luke's - one of my new favorites, Porchetta, Casimir - pretty servicable steak frites, Itzocan - really tiny spot that does kinda rustic mexican, I Coppi, Pizza Gruppo - great pie.

Mary O's on Ave A
I disagree totally. Thought it was horrible. Had the chicken breast, and the crabcakes (not Irish i know). But almost inedible. I know you shouldn't write a new place off after trying it once, but i don't believe they're even giving an effort with the food. And the place is kind of cheesy on the inside too.
Try Donnybrook maybe for a great full irish in an upscale pub. A couple blocks away.
Momo Ko vs. Eleven Madison Park for B-day Dinner
From a pure food standpoint, Ko hands down. Especially if you've already been to EMP. Twelve course tasting. I was there back in March and can still taste a few of the dishes.
Hungry male seeks to eat the face off Manhattan for less than $10-15/meal
Street meat! Some of the midtown lunchcarts are amazing! My faves: Little Morocco cart on NE corner of 7th & 39th. Chicken over rice $5. The chicken has this sweet cinnamon thing going on. They throw some french fries on top and then cover it white sauce and hot sauce. Killer! Try the Biryani Cart on the SE corner of 46th &6th. Supposed to be the best in the city. Just recently discovered the Trini-Paki Boys cart on the SE corner of 43rd & 6th. They do the same kind of chicken over rice thing, But they also have this side order called a 'double'. For a $1, the best snack in the city.
Help - My office moved to 35th and 8th!
Manganaro's - one of my favorite places over that way! Old school italian. Groceries in the front, lunch counter in the back. Fantastic italian! Also check out this website: www.midtownlunch.com. It saved my life when I started working in the neighborhood.
Where to for drinks near Tru?
Coming from NYC to meet some friends from Nashville and Philly for the weekend. Dinner at Tru Sunday nite. As I'm always the one left to plan these things, need some ideas nearby the restaurant for drinks before and after. I'm thinking cocktail bar type of place before and dive bar kind of place after. Any suggestions?
Solo dining in New Orleans
Heading to New Orleans for the weekend. Been there many times. But never given some of the old school restaurants a shot (Arnaud's, Galatoire's, Antoine's...). Do they have bars that a solo diner can eat at? What's the dress code like at those places?
