Trader Joe's Yea/Nay Thread - 4th quarter 2011 [OLD]

I second that. Tried adding both soy sauce and siracha and still didn't love it. Plus I thought the meat was too fatty.

Raleigh Meal Review - J Betski's - Terrific - will definately go back!

I wouldn't recommend Pooles for a night when you have show tickets. Love the food, but especially on the weekends the service/kitchen can be a little slow. I've come close to missing curtain twice and wouldn't risk it again. When you have time to enjoy a meal it's certainly worth a visit. Don't miss out on the homemade bread and butter, they do charge extra for it but we still think it's the best restaurant bread around.

Raleigh/RTP recommendations

Bonne Soiree is great but I wouldn't call it "casual, non stuffy", to me it's a very elegant but formal atmosphere. In addition to the places burgeoningfoodie mentions, we think both Poole's Diner in Raleigh and Watts Grocery in Durham have a nice blend of great food and a relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking for something closer to Cary/RTP, you might give Neomonde a try, they have fantastic Middle Eastern food in a cafeteria style setup.

Guglhupf and La Farm are indeed two of the best bakeries in town. Can't think of anyplace else I would go instead.

As for beer/wine shops, have you considered going over to Durham and visiting Wine Authorities, or the Chapel Hill Wine Company? Not sure that I'd recommend local wine, but both of these shops have great selections of lesser known but tasty wines that are good values.
