Give the West Virginia Hot Dog its due

Oh, by the way, best place to get a dog in Charleston is Chris' on the west side. They're open 10-2 M-Sat, lunch only. Make sure to get some fresh cut fries while you're there. If you can't make it in during their limited hours go a few doors down the street (towards the river) to The Grille. A slightly different dog, but larger and still delicious. You can even try a "Taco Dog" there. It's not a WV dog, but it's good. Maybe get one of each. Anyhoo, check out www.wvhotdogs.com for reviews of hot dog joints all across the Mountain State.

OK, you're on the right track, but slaw is not an option on a WV hot dog, it is standard. Forget about what they do in Clarksburg. Clarksburg also claims to be the original home of the pepperoni roll, when everybody knows it is really Fairmont. Speaking of pepperoni rolls, you have to try one. That is true WV cuisine, almost as WV as a hot dog with mustard, chili, slaw, and onions. Just don't put hot dog chili in your pepperoni roll like they do in Clarksburg. Weird.
