Philly to Maine- need stop suggestions 2 nights up and 2 nights back

The previous posters are right on the money with their Portsmouth & Kennebunk/Ogunquit recs. I live in Maine & work in Portland. Too many great restaurants in Portland to even list. Check out this iste for an up to date VERY extensive listing of Portland restaurants http://www.portlandfoodmap.com/. Portsmouth is a great smaller city as well. Jumpin Jays, Green Monkey are both great. In Portland you really must try Duckfat - it is a very casual almost takeout type of place with the most sublime Belgian style fries fried in duckfat , served with their own homemade aiolis & sauces. Also stop at Micuccis Market in the Old Port for the best slab of pizza you have ever had - simple with no extra toppings - just the best ingredients expertly prepared

Providence for Waterfire next weekend - Parkside, Mills Tavern, Nick's or Broadway Bistro???

Providence for Waterfire next weekend - Parkside, Mills Tavern, Nick's or Broadway Bistro???

I am thinking the same about Mill's pricing. Since we are headed to Newport the next day I need to spread out the food budget. Also we do kind of want to be in the general area of Waterfire, as we will be walking around that after dinner...

Providence for Waterfire next weekend - Parkside, Mills Tavern, Nick's or Broadway Bistro???

Out of those 4 places which would you choose - I would like the bill for 2 around 100 -120 with good but interesting food

Providence for Waterfire next weekend - Parkside, Mills Tavern, Nick's or Broadway Bistro???

Will be in Providence 6/26 for Waterfire - staying at the Hilton. Like the menus at all 4 of the above. Not much on here recently about Mills - their website has no pricing (that scares me a little). Nicks looks great but is it walkable from the Hilton? all reviews for Parkside seem favorable. Really just want good food, not too pricey (high teens to mid twenties for entrees).
Any suggestions??? BTW - already have reservations for Parkside & Mills

Also going to Newport for the next day & night - any restaurant recommendations are well appreciated.Fun great food

Great meal at the Cornish Inn, Cornish, ME

We have been there many times. The food is great there.. They bake all their own breads & strive to use local growers & purveyors, A great hidden jewel...

Portland's best-kept (sadly) secret: Rachel's L'Osteria

I was there Saturday night for dinner. We love Rachel's. I had the same pork dish which was braised in milk & herbs with the bolognese rigatoni. It was delish!!!
The arugula sald with carmelized onions & pancetta is wonderful as well. One complaint I do have, though was that it was sooooo hot in the restaurant they should have put the AC on...

the Wild Boar Tavern & Restaurant - North Conway, NH

Has anyone tried the Wild Boar Tavern in North Conway. Have read good things on their website, but am looking for some individual opinions.

Portland Brunch

Bintliff's is still just Bintliffs, nothing new or exciting. Try the Front Room, Pat's Meat Market & Cafe also has a nice brunch, My new favorite is the Bayou Cafe, great spicy well done food...

Portland, Maine "one-handed breakfast"

I second the breakfast sandwiches at the OhNo Cafe for freshness & bold taste. I love the one with skirt steak & onions. Also the ham & cheese croissant at Standard

Dinner in Portland on Sunday - Help

I also recommend Front Room. We had a great meal there last Sunday. Also, Norms on Congress, or Vignola off Commercial St.

Mise En Place in Wolfeboro, NH

Went to Mise en Place last night for dinner. We were a party of 2 & had one of the best meals we have ever had in the Lakes region. Had a gift cert from restaurant.com which I paid $4.00 for a $25.00 certificate. It was quite expensive but well worth the price. Started with the pumpkin ravioli in a curry cream as an appetizer. My partner had salad of baby greens w/ dried fruit, goat cheese & balsamic dressing. He is a very picky eater & loved everything he had. For mains we got the filet special & lump crabmeat risotto w' seared sea scallops. Both were delicious !!!! For dessert we chose the Lemon tart with fresh berries. Wonderful!!!!! Everything that was served seemed so fresh & prepared to order. Great ingredients & wonderful quality combined for a very memorable meal. Service was mpeccable as well. We will return to Mise en Place as often as possible. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cream chipped beef

The best creamed chipped beef anywhere used to be served at a diner on the corner of 19th & Spruce many years ago. The recipe had secret spices that the cook there would not disclose

Breakfast in Ogunquit in winter

For a great brunch menu check out Bintliffs right on Route one. They have an extensive, delicious menu including 5-6 different varieties of pancakes, waffles, omelets, as well as sandwiches, etc. The food is delicious & different than your run of the mill Breakfast place.

Good bagels in Portland area

I was also going to suggest Scratch but if you are looking for a more authentic bagel, then The Works on Temple Street near the Nickolodean theatre is probably the best in town. There IS a huge shortage of good bagels in Portland & southern Maine for that matter..

Good Eats around Lake Winnipesaukee

Canoe is great, I have been various times & it has been consistently good each time. I hear that Kevin's Cafe in Moultonboro is good for seafood. The owner/chef used to cook at Legal Seafood in Boston. Coe House in Center Harbor has reopened to rave reviews also

New Restaurant in Cornish, Maine....

The Cornish Inn in Cornish, Maine has opened a lovely, upscale new restaurant in completely redone space that was formerly the home of Krista's. After speaking with the owners of the inn & new space, the restaurant will be focusing on local regional & fresh cuisine . The menu will be changing almost daily. Everything, including the breads,is created from scratch. I have been 3 times, twice for brunch & once for dinner. Each meal was very well prepared & the quality of the menu shines thru. Dinner was great!!!!!! My entree of sauteed lobster, roasted asparagus, brie, in a light chive cream broth was delicious & light. It was served over linguine & was just the right combination of tastes. The appetizer of Jonah crab crabcakes were perfectly prepared. Not too much filler, with a lovely dijon drizzle. My partner had the half chicken with garlic mashed, which he enjoyed immensely. The skin was roasted to a nice golden brown yielding a moist tenderness beneath. Pass the good news around that there another great restaurant in the Cornish area. The Cornish Inn is worth the drive to the country.

DRIVING FROM PORTLAND TO OSSIPEE, NH.

Bay Haven Lobster Pound is in Cornish right on 25. It is good reliable seafood. always have fried not lobster. Krysta in downtown Cornish is pretty good also, not your average fare for this area. slightly upscale interesting American.
