The best steakhouse on LI
Couldn't name 1 so my top 4:
Luger's
Teller's- Cowboy ribeye
Rothman's
Jimmy Hayes
Best near St. James
Without a question I'd chose Kitchen A Bistro if you can get a reservation.
Long Island recommendations requested (fish/chips, falafel, chicken caesar salad)
1. Greek Corner in Carle place is pretty good.
Levittown Area devoid of any decent dining options.
RUB BBQ recently opened on hempstead tpk in Levittown. I thought it was some of the best BBQ I've had on LI(admittadely against very weak competition)
Peter Luger: Williamsburg vs Long Island
The food is basically the same, but for the "ultimate steak experience" you should go to Brooklyn. true steakhouse experience as opposed to LI which is more of a restaurant feel. As for reservations I'd try at least a few weeks out.
John's Hero King in Hallandale
I'm a NY hound, and recently was vacationing don in Hallandale(loved it by the way) and was amazed when I stumbled upon this restaurant/deli. The original in Brooklyn on stillwell avenue is a local legend and one of my favorite destinations(live 40 mins away). I was amazed and thrilled to learn that an outpost(started by a nephew I believe) has recently opened in Hallandale on Hallandale beach blvd. I spoke with owner who advised that business has been OK. As a diehard fan of the original, and having experienced the same experience down in south Fl I feel obligated to urge my fellow hounds to try it. The roast beef sandwich with extra onions, mozz, and their black tar sauce is 2nd to none. A true original, and in my opinion destination worthy. The turkey with red onions and baby swiss as well. The potato croquetes are phenomenal as well. I'm obviously a huge fan, and I urge all hounds to try for themselves. I am confident you will not be dissapointed!!!!!!
St. John's (Jamaica) in Queens: WALKABLE or SHORT Local bus ride for lunch/dinner
yes it has re-opened. I actually haven't been back from the fire, but I'm on their email list and they are back up and running.

For New Orleans inspired fare go to Cooking with Jazz.. While not exactly like you would find in N.O it's as close as anything I've ever found in NY. Also have live jazz on thursday nights.

Try Bob's Place in floral park. Good variety of modern American interesting entree's and should be in your price range.
A place on Long Island to hold a 70th birthday party
Tesoro's in westbury is good italian with a nice private room.
bringing my son to see Tulane
+1 on Delmonico's for a good steak or La Boca
+1 on Frenchmen for music or Mapleleaf if uptown
and ++++++++++++1 on Tulane. As a Tulane grad best move I ever made was spending 4 years in that city. Can't wait to see you all soon, as I'll be back in town for the the 1st jazzfest weekend!!!!

La Boca Restaurant

Good but not overly pricey place for lunch in Garden City?
La Bottega in Carle place or garden city south(both 5 mins from Roosevelt field mall) should work perfectly. Great and reasonable priced Panini's and salads.
Brooklyn Pizza Survey
L&B- I know some don't love the slices, and some like me probably love them too much, but you can't beat L&B for a Brooklyn Pizza experience.
Peter Luger
Excellant writeup and review, and I couldn't agree more. And I would not be misleading you when I say you can start your burger quest, the same place you just found your steak Holy grail. At Lunch PL serves an amazing bacon Cheesebuger (Yes with the same amazing bacon you previously described).
Bayside restaurants?
For sandwiches Press 195 is a solid option. Cinco de Mayo is good for mexican. Mickey's place has great sushi. Avli is pretty good greek food as well.

Sunday Brunch on Long Island?
LL Dente on Old country road in Carle Place has an excellant Brunch if you like soul food. They have an omlette station as well as classic southern food, like ribs, fried chicken and catfish, and sides of Chollards.
Sushi around Nassau Coliseum area
Shiro of japan on old country road in Carle place is very good and a 5 minute drive through the park.
Where do you go when you visit Aruba?
Wacky Wahoo's is great simple fresh fish. Que pasa was also mentioned and is another great downtown option. Madame jeanette's is definitely one of my must dine options on the island. We also enjoyed the atmosphere at Gianni's(though I prefer not to eat Italian when in the caribean). And for a less hastle alternative to The flying fishbone try Passion's where you dine with your feet in the sand feet from the beautiful ocean. perfect at sunset.
Good Italian in South Nassau?
Stella's in Floral Park is very good traditional red sauce italian. Should be close to what your looking for.
best pizza on long island???
Big fan of Giusepes on NY ave in Huntington for their specialty slices.
also Like Spasso in Wantaugh for their specialty slices.
Also love the pizza and garlic knots from Lascala on commack road.
Aruba restaurant report
Prior to my week long trip I did my due dilegence, and was disappointed to find limited and dated reviews of many of the restaurants. Being that me and my GF had so many great meals on the island I feel obligated to share:
Wacky Wahoo- I'd read good reviews on this board, and when I mentioned to a cab driver I had dined here he was very pleased. Amazing fresh fish. There fish of the day are what they caught earlier in the morning, and they erase them if they run out. we had a very tasty ceviche as an app. I had the wahoo arubian style served simply with rice, vegetables and a plaintain. The GF had the specaile which was a swordfish and seafood ragout consisting of muscles, shrimp and clams, and the same sides. We both enjoyed our meals which were simple and very fresh.
Que Pasa- We had reservations at madame Jeanette's(which my favorite restaurant from prev visit) we were dissapointed to arrive and see the restaurant flooded from a downpour an hour b4 our reservation. Instead we went downtown to Que Pasa. GF got the surf and turf, which was steak and shrimp. She loved it, steak was very tender and cooked perfectly. I had the special which were shrimp in a brown mushroom sauce with Bluecheese. It was fantastic. It was very rich, and not something I would ussually order, but I'm very glad I did. The blue cheese dallops went great with the rich mushroom sauce. A++
Gianni's- Gorgeous venue. I wasn't too high on eating italian(from NY so would rather not when I'm in the carribean), but our meals were very good. The GF ordered to apps for dinner. Muscles which were large and tasty, but nothing super special. Also ordered the cold seafood salad which again was good and fresh, but nothing original. Lucky for me I ordered the Seafood Rissoto which was excellant. Healthy amount of muscle,s clams scallops and shrimp. The dish was excellant.
Passions- Can't beat eating on the sand 8 feet from the water. Our server was excellant. Very nice young man, and very passionate about the hospitality industry in general. Our best server of the trip, he was personable without being intruisive. At his suggestion we had the arubian seafood soup, which was his "favorite dish on the island". It absolutely did not dissapoint, and is one of the best soups I ever had in my life. Had the creaminess and taste of a great lobster bisque(which is extremely hard to find) and was filled with tony of different seafood. Not sure what kind of seafood, but it did'nt matter. It was amazing. after that my grouper with some sort of sauce was good, but just did'nt match up, the soup had spoiled and ruined me for any other meal that night. Only downfall was the drinks were pretty bad. Long island icetea was terrible.
Salt and pepper- Went for lunch and ordered a few small tapa plates. beer battered mahi mahi was good, garlic, mango garlic shrimp ok. Seafood wrap was good, but octopus was tough and not cooked properly. The waka waka mango drink special was good.
Texas De Brazil- after eating seafood for the 1st 5 days on the island it was time for my meat fix, and I definitely got it. All meats were excellant, and salad bar and sushi were good as well. If your looking for a meat fix like me you'd be hardpressed to fix it any where better.
Pelican's nest- Was our go to lunch spot as were at Playa Linda and did'nt want to leave the beach much. The place was great. The fish sandwhich was grilled, not fried like we had other places. fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the Waka waka app which had fried conch fritters, calamari, and mahi mahi. excellant app. Ceviche was also quite good and perfect for a cold meal whith a bright after being out in the sun all day. we also enjoyed the salads, with the shrimp in a bourban sauce, and the other with crabmeat and seaweed in addition the lettuce, which gave it a fresh and different taste. The main bartendder was a bit of a moron, but our waiter/co-bartenderr Jordi was the man. If your looking for a drink with some firepower ask for a TMF. Tropical M F. You get the rest. I promise it will do it's job.
All an all another amazing trip to this beautiful friendly island. One of my favorite places in the world, and as you can see from my write up food is a big reason why.
Seafood in Nassau County
Fat Fish in syossett has good fresh fish. I've always enjoyed meals there. Not sure about any complete dinner special's though.
Bob's Place in Floral Park
I'm a fan. Innovative concepts well prepared, with good variety in a nice atmosphere. Always friendly service when I've been as well. I will concurr with enyc that it is a bit pricey. You can find good discount coupons for purchase at restaurant.com
