Zin, thanks for the clarification. the cognac certainly imparts a different flavor profile. I will be back to SoBou to try their Negroni. While I was there yesterday I watched the bartender use a small hatchet to chop off a small chunk from a large block of ice for a scoth rocks. When questioned he said they do that for most on the rocks drinks. He told me he would do that as well for a Negroni, my go to drink lately. I was tempted to get one then but mixing with the sazarac did not seem like a good idea at the time. |

So this is my report thus far after visiting 5 bars last night. Keeping in my that I am, by no means a connoisseur of what a great Sazerac ought to taste like: |

Second time in NYC need Rec for lunch/dinner in Manhattan I'll be there Sept.25th through the 30th. I'm coming from Florida. I guess the UES for the museums/lunch $20/person. The $75pp for dinner does not include tip. I feel more comfortable if iIhave reservations. I'll eat almost anything so don't worry about that. My wife, on the other hand, is not into Mexican/Asian; don't worry about it either because I'll be on my own for lunch. |

Second time in NYC need Rec for lunch/dinner in Manhattan My first time was only for 3 nights and we stayed in Brooklyn Heights so we did not get to check out the food scene very much. I could your help this time around. We get in on a Saturday and leave the next Thursday. Staying at the Millenium Hotel near Times Sq. I'll be doing lunches on my own while wife attends meetings during the day. Need recs for bf/lunch near hotel and also near the museum's I'll visit while she works. I intend to use the subway to get uptown. Deli's, burgers, pizza for lunch but want to make sure these are typical [if there's such a thing] NY. We'll be able to do three maybe four dinners. My budget is ~$150 for the two of us including wine. She is not keen on Mexican or Asian food but most everthing else [french, continental, spanish, eclectic, etc] goes. We'll cab it or use the subway in the evening and definately do not want to venture into other buroughs [that will be the next trip]. looking forward to your suggestions. |

Rest. Just of I-75 from Downtown north to I-575? just wanted to thank everyone again for your recommendatins and suggestions. As it was we were able to fly into town with minimal delays and by 9:15 last Thursday night drove from the airport straight to Miller Union. I was surpprised to find the place so crowded that late on a thurs. night. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait and sat at the bar. Before we were finished with our drinks we were escorted to a very nice table in one of the side rooms. I had the egg baked in celery butter as an appetizer. It was exquisite! I selected the Duck Breast as my entree and she had the homemade Pork Sausage. Both were served atop the most succulent vegetables I have ever tasted. Mine were baby lima beans, corn and something else I can't recall now but I certainly remerber the buttery, fresh flavor of such a simple dish. Her veggies were a combination of baby limas, lentlis ans some seasoning [dill maybe] that was also excellent. Amazing what local, farm fresh ingredients prepared by proffessionals can taste. I have naver tasted vegetables as good as these. ----- |

Rest. Just of I-75 from Downtown north to I-575? Yes, I am familiar with the ATL. airport and potential delays geeting out of that madness. My plane lands at 7:56 PM and since we have no checked bags I assume we'll be on the road by 9 at the latest barring any delays. I'm thinking 30 minutes tops to get to I-75/10th. Ave exit at that time of night. So I think that we can make it to Miller before the kitchen closes at 10 PM. If for some reason we can not make it to Millers on time then Holeman & Finch would be plan "B". I must admit that I am unfamiliar with H & F menu. Will have to do some research before we leave this Thursday. Either way I'll dispense with reservations since I assume that by 9:30 PM or so I should be able to walk right in or just have a short wait. Is my assumption correct? |

Rest. Just of I-75 from Downtown north to I-575? Wow! I do have a lot of choices. I appreciate everyone's input on this and the great suggestions. I want to definately stay off I-75 not venture on to I-85 but willing to extend my self imposed 5-minute rule to perhaps10 minutes. I have heard that good southern food can be had at Mary Macs. Is this a place I should check out? Map Quest places it close to I-75 near Ponce de Leon. Perhaps not as upscale as the above restaurants but is it worth considering? Thanks again for the recommendations. ----- |

Rest. Just of I-75 from Downtown north to I-575? Wife and I are flying into Atlanta on a Thursday evening, renting a car and visiting friends near Canton, Ga. We would like to stop for dinner before we get to our friends house and are seeking an upscale resturant that we can have a nice, relaxed supper. Ideally this restaurant should be no more that 5 minutes off an I-75 exit between downtown and I-575. Any upscale American, French, Continental, Spanish, etc will do. No Mexican or Asian please. Any suggestions? |
