Recommendations for next trip to SF

I think it's usually hard to please a Torontonian, since food in TO is excellent (unless they know the right places). I would not recommend any places in Japan Centre for ramen, but would head further south. I used to like Santa Ramen in San Mateo, but haven't been there in a while (I've heard it's gotten worse).

I do recommend El Farolito in the Mission district. The tacos al pastor, lengua and carnitas are favourites amongst my friends.

I think other chowhounders are better suited to comment on your other ideas!

Best farmers market in the South Bay?

Thanks for all the replies. I'll definitely try the Mtn View farmers market this weekend. I don't usually look for hot prepared foods when I go to farmers markets, so it sounds like Mtn View will serve my needs easily!

Best farmers market in the South Bay?

I'm currently looking for advice and reviews of specific farmers markets in the South Bay. I've been to a few farmers markets in the area, but I'm trying to look for something bigger.

I've been to both Milpitas markets (at the Great Mall and at ICC), downtown Santa Clara farmers market and the San Jose Alum Rock market. Though I liked the SJ Alum Rock market, I was wondering if anyone had better advice as to where I could find a bigger market (with preferably fish and cheese as well as fresh produce). Usually, I don't get time off of work on the weekdays, so they would have to be weekend farmer markets.

Any suggestions!? Comments are much appreciated!

Best taco in San Jose/Santa Clara/Milpitas area

Home is near Montague and 1st St in San Jose. I'm ideally looking for a place that's not too far for those days that you work late and just don't feel like cooking!

I have tried the three taquerias near Old middlefield and Rengstorff (La Bamba, La Costena and Los Altos Taqueria) which are pretty good, but a far drive for a week night taco craving.

Best taco in San Jose/Santa Clara/Milpitas area

Hi CH,

I'm looking for the best taco in the South Bay... I've seen many reviews that rave about the Redwood City taco trucks, but I'm more interested in something closer to home.

I've tried a taco al pastor (usually one of my favorite types of tacos) at La Victoria Taqueria and was a little disappointed, but I feel I may have picked the wrong meat.

If there are any suggestions as to taquerias and favorite taco selections, please suggest them! I'm mainly looking for tacos, not burritos. Thanks!
