21st Birthday in Richmond, VA. Need restaurant ideas for family dinner and for going out with my friends
For my family dinner, it will be me, my mother and father. It should be moderately priced, $100- $150 total bill (none of us will be drinking, so alcohol is not a factor).
By family oriented, they prefer restaurants that are in good areas of town. (I took my mom to Edo's squid and she FREAKED because of the Harrison/Grace Street area.) They prefer establishments that are the polar extreme from Godfreys (no offense). My dad loved Comfort, but I do not want to go some where that serves in southern food.
I have heard from others that Starlite was the place to go. I love 3 Monkeys, but I've only been there for lunch and early dinner.

I'm turning 21 next week!
I need restaurant ideas for dinner with my parents. They are not from Richmond, so I was wondering where to go. They don't drink, so alcohol is not a consideration. Where should we go for a family oriented 21st birthday dinner? They aren't super-foodies either, just looking for a good meal.
Also, I need to know what are the best bars for the night of my birthday. I am going with one of my friends, and she isn't from Richmond. Places within 10 minutes of VCU are preferred; I am considering venturing downtown. I've also heard there are some fun places on Main St between VCU and Boulevard.
