South Street Seaport
I have an event at the Beekman Beer Garden on Saturday and want to brunch beforehand. Where is a good place for brunch in the South Street Seaport area?
Did I imagine this place?
I was walking down 6th Avenue in the W. Village and saw a place called "something something Snowballs" the somethings of course being words I do not remember.
As I saw through the window (the store was closed) that they served snowballs with Tiger's Blood syrup, it is VERY IMPORTANT that I get this information.
Does anyone know what this place is called as google takes me straight to a pet salon with search terms "nyc snowballs"?
Local Wine without the Winery
Thanks for making the ice cream post, I just revised the above to no longer include ice cream, I got a little quick with the post before checking the title. I should have just named it sinning is winning.
Local Wine without the Winery
My boyfriend are tagging on a few days in San Francisco to a wedding in October and I'm starting to work on the itinerary which of course revolves around food - hello empire waist dress.
While I'm sure I can look to other posts for dinner recos, I specifically wanted to request recommendations for places to get a glass/bottle of wine in an array of neighborhoods, so we can pop in on the fly.
Wine bars focused on local names - We aren't making it to any wineries on this trip, but we love to go local whenever we are on vacation. I will not likely pay more than $15 for a glass or $40 for a bottle. As this will likely be our post tourist destination "adult naptime", I'm looking for relaxed, not stuffy.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Making Pickles
If there are any other DIY pickle makers out there, do you have and recommendations on where to buy small to medium cucumbers and when the right season to buy is in the New York area? I hunted grocery stores last year and it was pretty much impossible.
Thanks!
Looking for good and not too pricy eats in west village?
Market Table on Carmine. I adore Grey Dog Cafe, also on Carmine, but that is usually packed.
non-typical Valentine's Day dinner
Blue Ribbon Sushi on Sullivan is amazing, but about the farthest thing from romantic I can think of, same with Sushi Yasuda.
Recs for 2 couples who can't agree
As a southerner and a foodie, or in the least a foodie poser, I definitely recommend Blue Ribbon Bakery. I take all visiting family members there for lunch. They have an amazing sandwich selection on fresh made bread and also a pretty hefty entree menu. Other restaurants that were successful in riding the fine line between great food and not too expensive: Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay, southwestern), Pearl River Oyster Bar (great lobster rolls or seafood and fun easy desserts like caramel sundaes), Café Habana (Latin American), and BLT Fish or Aquagrill (seafood). I agree with Becco, which is great before a show, but have also heard that Bianca is great for Italian. I would say any of these restaurants would equally please you and your friends.
Mayhaw Jelly
Thank you, Briarhill it is, as I cannot in good faith, order jelly from my Texarkana roots from Georgia!
Euro Trip Beer Recommendations
I think in bragging rights to having been to the biggest beer bar in the world trumps even the best but I think we will definitely shoot for Delirium and hopefully Moeder Lambic too. Thanks!
Euro Trip Beer Recommendations
I'm headed to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam and am looking for local recommendations for great beers. I've heard there are good french beers, none that I've ever heard of, so please help if you know of any great ones. I'm also concerned that in Brussels and Amsterdam I will be so overwhelmed I'll pick what sounds familiar, and who wants to do that?
Sugar Free Desserts in Manhattan?
My parents are coming up for Christmas this year and I want to show them the perfect holiday time, but my dad recently got diagnosed with diabetes. He's super bummed about no sweets this year.
Does anyone have great recommendations for sugar free options? I've heard about Babycakes, but what are their best menu items? Any other places you can think of?
