GAUCHO GRILL is fantastic. You will land up going more than once. Also interesting is a street taco stand in the same area(Polanco) that, I believe, is only open Saturday nights.

Pesach programs under $2k per head?

Thanks for the comments. The Pesach for less seems to be about what we should expect at that price. I am not sure Trenton is what I had in mind. I was hoping for Mex, CR, Panama etc. Just to clarify I wasnt expecting airfare to be included in the price.

Pesach programs under $2k per head?

Anyone know of any programs that under $2k. Its a plus of the food and accommodation are good and the location is warm - but I guess at this price its unlikely?

Bringing food into Mexico

That is interesting. We spoke with the supervisor at length and they seemed clear about what was allowed and in fact produced a brochure with the official regs listed. We later related our story to some Mexican people we met with and they confirmed our experience.

The only thing I can think of is that we were bringing in uncooked meat and yours was already processed.

BTW this was in Mexico City. Where did you fly?

Bringing food into Mexico

We just returned from Mexico and were stopped at customs and all our meat and poultry was confiscated. Everyone must put all their luggage through a scanner which I presume checks for organic material. Our meat was from Costco and properly packaged and stamped. You are not allowed to bring it in without a permit. Whether you declare or not will make no difference. The people behind us had there luggage searched and found to have a banana which is not permitted. Many items are permitted but certainly not meat or poultry or it seems fresh fruit.

Mexico City

We are planning on going to Mexico City soon so your suggestions would be helpful. Also do you know if there are products that are sold that dont require a hecksher in Mexico e.g. milk, tortillas etc

kosher in cancun

Can you point me in the direction of the list of kosher items. I am interested in a possible side trip to Mexico City for shabbat. It seems the main jewish area is Polanco. Anyone have ideas on how to set this up.

Driving South from JFK - arriving late

It looks like two good options in Kew Gardens Hills and Lawrence(???). We will likely be there by 11pm. Probably looking for pizza. It looks like its easier to get back to the NJT from Lawrence?

Driving South from JFK - arriving late

We are arriving at 9pm at JFK and driving South. Is there any place to stop and eat that would be open late. If not any ideas for stopping in the city that wont take us to far out.

Thanks

Keeping Kosher on a Cruise question: Royal Caribbean vs. Norwegian

Another thing to consider is that RC cruises are usually quite a lot more expensive then Norwegian. I haven't been on either but I suspect is because you get what you pay for. On our cruises we have only managed to eat the Webberman meals a couple of times. We then have the ship double wrap fish and vegies for us. Also keep in mind that much of the food is prepared on the ship but a lot isn't. We have found the bagels, lox, cream cheese, peanut butter, tuna, jelly, ice cream, cereal, crackers, condiments etc are all brought from the outside and have good hechsers. Lastly there is the option to eat rice cooked in rice cooking machine or eggs boiled in a egg boiling machine i.e. machine is used solely for one purpose.

Kosher Cruising in General and Norwegian Cruise Line specifically

Wow I am amazed that your group was able to stick with the meals. We have only managed about 1 or 2 and have fish the rest of time..

I would suggest that you stop st Goldbergs Bagels on Georgia Ave Silver Spring. Its about 1/8 of a mile from the exit and you can continue south on Georgia or 16th st into DC

I presume you will be driving down 95 from NY. Its quite a schlep to drive from 95 to Reisterstown Rd and back to 95. I suggest you eat in Silver Spring since you will probably exit there to get to DC.

Excellent Kosher restaurant in Virginia Beach in winter! and Virginia notes

We are going to NC next month so this is very timely - thanks. AGain if you could be more specific about what you are referring to. I was under the impression that milk production in the US was covered by federal law. Why do you feel that it is different in NC? Can you point me to somewhere on the internet that gives you the impression that there might be non-cows milk mixed in?

Thanks so much for your help with this.

Med Cruise - food question

On our cruises in the Caribbean, we have had an easy time finding food with hechskers since all of the lox, bagels, cream cheese etc is all loaded in Florida. Anyone have any idea about where the food is sourced is Europe on an American cruise line?

Israeli Hummus....what is the secret? [moved from Kosher board]

Ok so you have about 3 cups of tehini ie 1 cup of raw tehini and 2 cups of water. You then combine 1 can chickpeas plus 1/4 can of tehini/water. Doesnt that leave a lot of tehini leftover or am I missing something?

Dining on kosher cruises

HAL serves the same frozen meals as everyone else - Webermans. You should order 2 meals for each person per adult. Also they will double wrap the fish, potatoes and vegies. The rice is from a rice cooker. Boiled eggs may be from a egg cooking machine. French fries at the pool are cooked in a kosher oil in a french fry cooker. I believe only the diet chocolate ice cream is kosher.

BEST KOSHER RESTAURANTS NYC

I should have mentioned that this would be on a Sunday which looks like that excludes Rosas and Taam Tov.

It looks like its either Colbeh or Clubhouse - both seem to have pretty average reviews however. I am thinking maybe we can walk a little ways - maybe around 20 blocks. Does that change anything?
