I like Sasabune. It's not uber-cheap, but you really are paying for the quality of the fish, and it's worth it.

new dietary restrictions-organic eating in Manhattan- suggestions?

Gustorganics in the W Village claims to be the "greenest restaurant in the world" and although I am not SUPER in to that sort of thing, I actually thought the food was excellent. Fun organic cocktails too.

Which of Bobby Flay's Manhattan Restaurants is better? Mesa or Bar Americain?

I like Bar Americain better too, and agree that their bar is a great place to sit with a martini and people-watch.

Any clever ideas for a Halloween Brunch?

I think these pumpkin-shaped mini-pies from Bakerella are adorable and can't wait to make them:

Solo diner looking for recommendations (in SoHo or West Village?)

If you want sushi, Marumi near Washington Square is great. I eat there solo quite often, the food is good, reasonbly priced, and the atmosphere is low key.

For more of a bar atmosphere, Blind Tiger is good:

As is Von:

Hope you have a great trip!!

Where to buy shrimp (and veggie) dumplings?

Vanessa's Dumpings!

They are very good and cheap - $10 for 50 frozen dumplings.

Oh glorious day! Oh wonderful year! Oh lucky me! I finally, finally, finally get to host Thanksgiving. I banish thee jarred gravy (tell me about your single favorite dish)

Lucky you!! I hosted last year but now that we live in NYC, there is no way we have space. :( I love hosting TG!!

This is my favorite thing to make. I make it early in the day, then stick it in the crock pot to keep it warm until we eat!

Mahmoun's near Washington Square is my favorite falafel in town! Falafel sandwich + hot sauce = perfection.

Your favorite heavy-on-jalapeno recipes

I've made these fish tacos a couple of times and threw a ton of jalapenos in there. I also included a fresh peach-honey salsa to balance the spiciness a bit and it was wonderful!

No idea about the freezing though. Good luck!
