I like Sasabune. It's not uber-cheap, but you really are paying for the quality of the fish, and it's worth it.

new dietary restrictions-organic eating in Manhattan- suggestions?
Gustorganics in the W Village claims to be the "greenest restaurant in the world" and although I am not SUPER in to that sort of thing, I actually thought the food was excellent. Fun organic cocktails too.

Which of Bobby Flay's Manhattan Restaurants is better? Mesa or Bar Americain?
I like Bar Americain better too, and agree that their bar is a great place to sit with a martini and people-watch.

Solo diner looking for recommendations (in SoHo or West Village?)
If you want sushi, Marumi near Washington Square is great. I eat there solo quite often, the food is good, reasonbly priced, and the atmosphere is low key.

Lucky you!! I hosted last year but now that we live in NYC, there is no way we have space. :( I love hosting TG!!
This is my favorite thing to make. I make it early in the day, then stick it in the crock pot to keep it warm until we eat!

Your favorite heavy-on-jalapeno recipes
I've made these fish tacos a couple of times and threw a ton of jalapenos in there. I also included a fresh peach-honey salsa to balance the spiciness a bit and it was wonderful!
