biscuits & gravy w/ eggs, country ham

Country gravy on anything... yup.

The cafe I cook for just added a breakfast poutine to the menu... fries, topped by cheese curds, topped by country gravy. Yum.

Lynden Dutch restos

None are great (there's not much great in Lynden anyway), but if I had to choose I'd go to Dutch Mothers.

"Apple pie in a bag" and other pie questions.

Bobby Flay did an episode of Throwown on the Brown Bag Apple Pie. It might help.

Dickey's

I've been to Dickey's once. I've been wondering if it was really that bad or if I had been really spoiled from my visit to Oklahoma Joe's in KC. Sounds like it just really that bad.

Ladner/Delta and Environs

It's been a number of years ago now, but I remember having a truly wonderful rack of lamb at Taverna Gorgona in Ladner.

Culver's

Ahhh... the lemon ice from Culver's. It was my wife's biggest pregnancy craving. I was making 3-4 trips a week to Culver's. I never got a chance to try it by my wife loved the stuff. Too bad we don't live near a Culver's anymore.

"Only in Canada" food items: add to the list

you can find Nanaimo bars here and there in the states. At least in the border states that I've lived in. They're available in a number of grocery stores here in Western Washington and I was also able to find them at a couple of stores in Michigan when i lived in Grand Rapids.

Looking For Great Onion Rings in Seattle Area

I'll throw in a vote for Kidd Valley Burgers. It's been a few years since I've lived in the Seattle area but when I'm back in town I always make at least one trek to Kidd Valley for a bacon burger, onion rings and a banana shake. mmmm.

Have they stopped making Hickory Farms Beef Stick?

you should be able to find a 'contact us' somewhere on their site. I was able to, and I certainly gave them an earful able this. Maybe if they hear from enough people they might re-introduce the classic beefstick ala NewCoke/Classic Coke.

Canadian vs American Heinz Ketchup [moved from Quebec board]

Don't know about Pepsi but there's definitely a difference in the Diet Coke. The Canadian, which I prefer, isn't as sweet.

Old Dutch Crispy Bacon Flavored Chips

I'm pretty sure they're a Canadian thing. And I definetely agree with the original poster... best bacon flavoured chips I've ever had. Great stuff.

Canned Chicken ala' King? [moved from the South board]

It's been a very long time since I've seen the canned Chix ala King in the USA but it is still produced by Campbell's Soup Canada in their Chunky Soup line. We live in the USA but because we live so close to the USA/Canada border we usually pick up a can or two when we do a shopping trip north of the border.

Do you buy the pre-sliced deli meats/cheeses at the Supermarket deli counter.....

To me it would depend on the store. I wouldn't (and don't) buy the pre-sliced in any of my local stores, the deli sections are usually ghost towns. That said, the deli department of my favourite grocer where I used to live (Thrifty Foods in Tsawwassen, BC) was always extremely busy and I was assured that everything in the case, presliced or not, was always fresh. I never thought twice about being served presliced meats from their case. All depends on the store.
